Out of State Transfer - Help!

Hi, I’m currently a Freshman at a state school in Pennsylvania. I’m aiming for a 3.5 GPA, I’m getting involved in lots of activities, and I’m really hoping that helps me out when I apply to Ohio State for next fall. I have a few questions, and an answer to any of them would be appreciated!

  1. Would joining Greek Life look good? I’m interested, and I’ve heard that going Greek looks good to colleges, but if it won’t be much of a help I don’t want to spend money on it.
  2. What would you say are my chances of getting in with a 3.5 and lots of ECs? I’ve heard it can be erratic for out-of-state transfers.
  3. If I apply at the end of this year (my freshman year) will OSU look at my high school grades? I know it says you need 30 credit hours to not look at HS grades, and I’ll have that at the end of this year, but since I’d be applying in the spring for the fall and I wouldn’t technically have completed the hours yet, will it still count?
Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you so much!

Also, my GPA out of high school was a 3.03, SAT 1750, and I was huge on ECs. Any feedback, even just chancing me, would help so much!

I’m a student at OSU from pa, and one o my hs friends transfered in from a pa community college with a 3.5ish GPA in college and a sub 3.0 hs along with low SATs so you should be fine. No reason to join Greek life though, since even if you like all the guys at your school they might be different at OSU, so I would just wait until you transfer to decide to join a Greek organization

did he transfer in after his freshman year? Also, thank you!
