Could you all tell me of any out of state tuition waivers for either University of California Santa Barbara and University of Florida?

[Nonresident tuition exemption | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/paying-for-uc/cost/out-of-state/nonresident-tuition-exemption/)

Its not happening for you unless you attended HS here under certain circumstances.

There aren’t really any. The UCs and UF are instate heavy. They want OOS student to PAY to help bring in more money. They don’t need to attract OOS students by giving discounts.

The UF Residency exemptions:

[University of Florida - Admissions](http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/residency/exception.html)

UF only has 3% OOS students; it does provide OOS tuition “reductions” to a very LIMITED number of top entering freshman who are non-Florida residents. For more information, contact the UF Admissions Office at (352) 392-1365.

It’s far easier to get OOS tuition waivers at the other state universities in Florida (USF, UCF, FAU, etc), it’s also far easier to get merit awards (UF gives little in Merit awards).

Good Luck!

None in CA that I know of…and very very few in Florida.

What is the matter with the colleges in your home state of Virginia where you HAVE instate tuition status?

No OOS-based tuition waivers for any UC, but depending on your home state,
you may qualify for participating CSU’s (generally not the top-ranked variety) through the Western Undergrad Exchange (WUE) program.

This student is from VA…they do not participate in the WUE.

But VA does participate in the Academic Common Market. That could be a way to go OOS for a reduced cost, if the particulars apply like school and major. Academic Common Market - Southern Regional Education Board;

But California does not participate in the Academic Common Market. And University of Florida does not look like it has any undergraduate programs that are available to Virginia residents.
