Was a freshman last year and everyone says you’re only allowed 4 overnights a month in freshman dorms. I used a lot more than that. The check in people never cared. But now I’ve heard mixed things on whether I’m going to be charged for overnights going into next semester or not. Any thoughts?
Four overnight guests per month is the rule for the dorms. It isn’t that those working the front desk don’t care, but it isn’t part of their particular job to keep track of how many times each resident brings an overnight guest into the dorm each month. Once they enter guests/residents into the front desk system, their work is done, and they are on to checking in the next resident. They don’t have access to those types of daily records, so they wouldn’t be able to say you had exceeded your limit of overnight guests. I believe those specific types of records are processed by the housing office/REO. You might want to call the housing office to ask what will happen this upcoming year if you have five or more overnight guests per month.
Hi, again. I’ve just reread your question, and on the second read through, it sounded like you may be concerned that you will be charged for this past year’s guests. I originally read it that you were worried about being charged for having overnight guests in 2016/17. If you are worried about possible charges from last year that aren’t showing up on your account, call the accountant in housing, and ask if you have any outstanding bills for last year. She’s great and is very helpful with students especially if they are proactive with questions.
