Hi, I’m about to be a freshman at the University of Oklahoma and my significant other (of 2 and a half years) is staying in Texas. I’m staying in the Walker Tower and was wondering how strict they are on the overnight guest policy. My boyfriend is trying to come visit me once a month and as an adult who is paying to live in the dorms, I believe that we should be able to make the decision for ourselves but anyways, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me honestly what they do if your visitor is in your room past 2am. I’ve heard that they aren’t really strict and don’t care but I’ve also heard that they are. I just want to save my boyfriend the trouble of getting a hotel if possible and it would be nice if he could stay with me, if my roommates have no issues with it.
Here’s the thing. Introducing a boyfriend for overnight stays puts a roommate in a no-win situation. Dorms are already lacking in privacy, and now she gets a lot less of it with a guy she doesn’t even know. If she doesn’t have a problem with it now, I guarantee she WILL have a problem with it before long. It’s a ticking time-bomb. If she complains to the leasing office, you could get evicted.
