Dear Alumni Scholarship Applicant,

As you consider your college admissions decision, we invite you to save the date to experience student and campus life at UC Berkeley through the OVERNIGHT STAY PROGRAM (OSP), a 24-hour campus visit organized by the Alumni Scholars Association.

Participation in OSP is contingent on your acceptance to UC Berkeley. If accepted, you will receive an email from us during the first week of April with instructions on how to register.

During the Overnight Stay Program you can:

-Visit the UC Berkeley campus
-Eat at residence dining halls
-Attend class(es)
-Speak with Cal alumni, professors, and students
-Stay overnight with a Cal student in the dormitories

OSP also offers a concurrent program for parents of student participants tailored to parents’ interests.
Note: Accommodations are not included for parent participants.

In its 16th year, OSP is the largest such event at UC Berkeley attracting nearly 900 participants per year. As a student-run program, we offer participants a highly unique perspective on college life.

WHEN IS OSP?

You can participate in one of three sessions:

I. April 12-13, 2009

II. April 19-20, 2009

III. April 26-27, 2009

HOW MUCH IS OSP?

Participation in OSP is $90 per student and $90 per parent.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Due to the popularity of this program, sessions fill up quickly. We offer the opportunity for you to sign up for priority registration which allows you to register early.

Is anyone going?!?!?! Did anyone else get this e-mail?! I'm so hyped. Even though it does not guarantee our admission...but STILL!!!

[:

I'm super hyped, I'm not done screaming...LOLOL.

I didn't get that email. I'm doomed. Not that I want to participate being that I live about 30 minutes away, but it would be nice to hear anything from any school that I applied to. It's been a long time since I received any kind of mail from the UCs.

^
I got it half an hour ago. Not sure if that makes you feel any better, but remember, this is for people who applied to the Alumni Scholarship.

[:

&& if I read this right...does this mean that if we do the application and all...we find out if we get admitted to Cal next week?!!?!? OMFG. O_________________________O;;;;

Anyone from last year have some thoughts?! Please! I'm really...freaking out/hysteric, if my parents come up here they will freak out too. X__X;;

Oh, the alumni scholarship association is organizing it? Well, never mind then. I didn't apply for a scholarship. I'll let this thread die now, especially seeing as there are three of them at the the top of the board.

you guys are all making me nervous...I didn't even get an alumni scholarship email, let alone apply....Am I doomed? OO

^
If you didn't apply for the scholarship, don't trip. You're just missing out on 6grand+ new laptop. LOL. [:
that and...having to wait until April 30th?!?!?!

Don't worry!!!! [:

Just like we thought:

Overnight Stay Program
An overnight campus visit for incoming Cal students and their parents

Admitted Cal students can experience student and campus life at UC Berkeley through the Overnight Stay Program—a 24-hour campus visit organized by the Alumni Scholars Association.

So...YES, we will get our admission decision next week. I'm so mailing this thing out First Class first thing in the morning tomorrow, I'm super hyped!

I feel dumb for e-mailing them...LOL. [:

What's the alumni scholarship??? and how were we supposed to apply for it?

stats of ppl who got it?

The Overnight Stay Program is a long-running tradition for the Alumni Scholars Association of the California Alumni Association. The program is designed to give current high school seniors who have been admitted into UC Berkeley an opportunity to experience classes, food, community, and general living on the campus. Students will spend 24 hours on the UC Berkeley campus and in the surrounding city of Berkeley.

its for seniors buddy. the freshmen decisions come out this week, thats what its referring to. hope you didn't pop open the bottles already...
if you don't believe me call admissions tomorrow and ask them if you're going to find out your decisions this week because you applied to the alumni scholarship which is completely independent from the admissions office.

^
I e-mailed the OSP. They told me that although it is intended for the Freshmen, obviously they know that bulk e-mail was not send to all freshmen applicants, so they understand that we're getting it too.

P.S.-I did not start celebrating. I know that this is not any indication that I got accepted into Cal. I did read the fine print. They did say they were going to e-mail me back if my admissions status had changed so I could/could not attend.

To adinek: The Alumni Scholarship requirements are: (as taken from the website)
Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
Gross family income of $86,000 or less
California resident as defined by the AB 540 guidelines
Submit a UC Berkeley application for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 enrollment
Submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to UC Berkeley by June 1, 2009

For transfer students. I didn't know about the program, I got an e-mail and that's how I was notified for it. But I'm not sure how I got their e-mails...so sorry! The prize is getting up to 6,000 and a new laptop! && they did say they were going to interview the finalists in April (both freshmen and transfers) . [:
