Daughter was admitted but still deciding. At many schools they have arrangements for prospective students to stay overnight in a dorm with a volunteer student. Does anyone know if Syracuse has anything like this. She would like to visit but doesnt know anyone there currently.

you might want to call one of the religious organizations to see if they can set this up…Syracuse does not have an overnight program but I do know that Hillel will sometimes do this; no sure if others do it as well but doesn’t hurt to ask (if you are not Jewish)…if my daughter was around this semester, I would volunteer her but she is abroad…

BTW, when did you and your significant other graduate from Albany?..PM me…entire family except me and hubby (both Bing) graduated from there and all married to each other…lol

Another possibility to get more information is to contact the school that your daughter was admitted to and ask to speak to their recruiter. Although it is not publicized, most of the individual schools have staff members who are solely responsible for interacting with potential students. My D had a difficult time making her decision to attend SU too and depended a great deal on the Whitman admissions recruiter to get information. This woman connected her to other current students as well; they may even know someone willing to do an overnight, since each school has student ambassadors.
You may also want to contact Newhouse and investigate the minor that is definitely offered but not advertised, if the ability to take Newhouse courses is a big part of her decision.

Thanks for the info. I will f/u. btw I s/w Newhouse regarding the minor. They said its really probably not what we would be interested in as its not the Newhouse courses that most people want Newhouse for. Instead its more of a communications as a social science focus.
