Hey! I got a few emails and reminders to apply to be an OWL to get onto campus a few days early and help others move in. I was wondering if this was worth it and whether I should do it. Thanks! and GO BUCKS!

I’m an upcoming freshman too and I think it sounds like a great idea so I applied for it. I mean, you get to move in early when it’s not crowded, you can learn your way around campus, and you get to know some people before EVERYONE gets there, which sounds good to me especially because I’m from out of state and know no one going to OSU. You should do it! O-H!

My daughter did it last year. Besides moving in when it’s less crowded-you get to pick your bed. She’s doing it again this year.

NEohio do you what your daughter’s experience was like doing it?

My son who just returned home said being an OWL was one of the best decisions he made freshman year. He said his main friends were from owl. He also said there were a ton of activities to keep Owls busy. Look at housing website to see if the schedule is still up. They had bbqs, concerts, fair, games and lots of meals. My son was responsible for the elevator during move-in which meant that President Gee rode the elevator with him a bunch. He said being an Owl meant he got to ease in college in a calm way. He highly recommends it.

Is it too late to apply for OWL?

I don’t think it’s too late, the application is still up.

anyone know when we’ll be notified? I applied the first day it was possible.

If I remember correctly it was around the first of August that they notified my son via email that he was selected as an OWL.

ok thank you! It’s terriblewe have to wait so long tho :(

I just received an email confirming that I will be an owl this fall

@RiedyZac did you find out your dorm assignment too?

i got the email saying im going to be an owl too.

@brooklyninoh, no it didnt say anything about dorm assignment. we wont find that out until august

@BrooklyninOh, no the email didn’t mention my dorm assignment, but I spoke on the phone to a faculty member about orientation and she said that dorm assignments have been made and will be mailed in August.

Thanks for the update. My son got his OWL email too. I’m much more anxious to know where he’s living than he is. And getting info from him is like pulling teeth. It’s easier to ask here. :)
