Haha, fancy seeing you here Kebree.

"Surprise!"
You mention Oxford and I magically appear...go figure.

Bokonon - is your friend American? They're asking him to interview in Oxford? For what subject? Gee. I thought they didn't do that. Uh oh...

He's British, but he lives in America. He had one interview in New York, and then was called back for an interview in Oxford.

franklinbrown, don't worry, there could still be time to interview you. It might be coz your application got delegated to Lincoln and Jesus that they still need time to schedule your interview. I know Oxbridge (oxford and cambridge) has interviews in December and January (January mostly for pooled applicants).

Well most of my close friends have applied to the UK.
And 4 of them to Oxbridge. (Oxford or Cambridge)

Oxford sounds great! 3- 8 week terms... that are intense.. Then a holiday the rest of the time! And apparantly it's gorgeous in Oxford.

is it too late to apply? when are the deadlines?

you already missed the deadline for oxbridge..

that was ages ago.

everyone at my school already had their oxbridge interviews.. i think offers will start arriving soon..

Silver, did your friends who applied to oxbridge get invited for second interviews in England?

i'm not sure about these "second" interviews.
but i know that oxbridge admissions people come to singapore to interview.. which is what they had... they were given an article from the economist or something.. and they had their academic interview. i think thats the only one they have if i'm not wrong.

and now they are sending off 3 pieces of written work..

Yeah, that's what I thought, too!
Thanks, silver!

my friend also had to send several pieces of written work...

hmm
i applied to Oxford, and ive been called there for an inteview..
im gonna have to miss my midterms..
will tht affect my us admissions chances by alot?

hmm.. well arent midterms important salsa?

and no probs franklin :) sorry that u missed ur deadline.. but neway u dont really wanna go to oxford and live in england... lol..

no oxford is brill
yea i no midterms are important
but an interview at oxford is an interview at oxford rite?
and oxford is oxford!!
anyway
i think i hv mr of a chance of gettin into oxford then to yale...

no way.. u know how tough getting into oxford is?
well actually depends on the course u apply to...
but things like PPE or law is **** hard...
and it's conditional offers..

true oxford is tough, but statistically speaking - oxford admits around 1 out of 5 for it's most competitive courses (ie, law and PPE) that's 20% whereas yale admits about 11% so salsa, you do have more chances of getting into oxford coz of the number of applicants.

Quetzal - that's true, but have you looked at the stats for international students? They only admit five percent of American students who apply. I'm applying to read for English, and the acceptance rate for Americans reading for English is even worse!

who cares about england dude??

I live in trinidad and 5 guys at my school applied to oxford wit 5 A*'s at a'levels. one was a national cricketer and another was a national football player and all five of them won full government scholarships. THEY WERE ALL REJECTED!!! talk about high rejection rate. well known british schools now are giving first preference to nationals of their country. they % of internationals accepted dropped from 20 to 4 in <10 yrs
