<p>Okay, I have a couple questions about the oxfords.
I know the letter says to buy a single pair of oxfords, do many cadets have just the one or is it a good idea to buy a second pair?</p>

<p>Next, is the lites version (Bates 932 <a href="http://www.bates-shoes.com/images/932.jpg%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://www.bates-shoes.com/images/932.jpg&lt;/a&gt;) of the Bates Oxford authorized? They look exactly the same except they are significantly lighter and cooler.</p>

<p>Finally, not a single store in the are carries the leather uppers so I had to order. The pair that I received today came in with a small hole through the top layer of the leather in the center of the tongue about 1/16 of an inch in diameter. When the shoes are laced and tied, the hole is covered over by the left flap of leather. Is this bad enough for my to send them back for another pair?</p>

<p>Buy one for wearing to class/getting messed up, and another for haircut inspections.</p>

<p>Yeah, you could break them in before reporting, but you really don't have to. They'll issue them to you anyway if you don't have them.</p>

<p>Speaking of oxfords, I tried at every aafes store from edwards afb to la afb to los alamitos and nobody carried normal smooth leather oxfords. However, a local uniform shop, catering mostly to lasd recruits, carried them. I bought a pair, and they look mostly the same to the ones i have seen before, except the sole/heel seems to be a bit thicker. Would this be authorized?</p>

<p>It is my understanding that there is only 1 authorized style of low quarters for plebes (look at the authorization letter). If you do not report with the correct shoes the correct shoes will be issued.</p>
