Hi guys, I didn’t really see a thread dedicated to the PACE program, so I decided to create one. Is anyone else in the class of 2020 doing PACE? If so, what major are you hoping to transfer into? I met with the PACE director a week ago and we spoke for almost an hour about the program, so I can probably answer most questions about the it. Luckily many past students have transferred from PACE into the business program, which is what I’m hoping to do.
Not from PACE 2020, but 2019, but I can offer an internal experience perspective now that I’m winding up my freshman year. Please give me an excuse not to study for finals and ask me some questions!
@SlimShadyLady That’s awesome! Did you transfer to another major other than liberal arts? If so, what was the process like?
Also, how unified is the PACE group? I know our class is supposed to be around 150 people. How close will you get with other PACE students?
Also, how was it traveling to ACC every day? How’s the environment there? Did you bike or use the bus system?
it just deleted my whole post, brb, rewriting.
I’m staying in COLA so I can’t help much here. Basically, you have to submit a resume, an essay (topic A, I think?) and a statement of purpose to get out of COLA. Then you wait until mid summer for a decision. Fun, fun!
There’s a Facebook group, and you kinda get to know the PACE kids from your classes. So, it’s easy to make friends with then if you try (I didn’t).
I took the bus last semester but they closed the stop I used for construction so now I just drive because I’m LAZY but it’s route #18 in case you’re interested. Some kids bike, I do not.
Hope this kinda helps. If you have any other questions, I’ll be around.
No questions for you @SlimShadyLady except to say Hi and thanks. You were so great about posting especially in July and August about orientation, parking and dorms. I learned a lot about UT from your posts. So glad to see you succeeding. But, I will lose my mom card if I don’t say “Go study.”
@gettingschooled omg you are such a sweet person, I’m so happy I could provide some information for you!!! Seriously so happy also, you’ll be happy to know I finished one of my final papers today so I’m giving myself some downtime
awkward waving Hi.I feel bad for asking questions in a thread I didnt create. I hope you dont mind OP if I ask what stats ya’ll had to be offered PACE . From what I understand Everyone gets offered CAP but only a few get offered PACE and from obvious reasons I’d rather do the latter.hides away
@Karina2017 I had a 3.67 weighted GPA, class rank of around 25-30%. ACT of 30. PACE is usually offered between the 8-10% that are just a tad away from auto admits: “PACE, is being offered only to those applicants who rank in the top 10 percent of their high school classes but who didn’t qualify for admission to UT Austin under SB 175.”
The only reason I got admitted into the program (I think) is that my high school has a good reputation with UT, and my high school is extremely competitive. We had multiple NMFs and a few kids scored 36 on their ACT. That or I had killer essays or recs.
@Karina2017 Don’t know how helpful this will be, as my stats are a year old but: 3.96 unweighted GPA, 29 ACT, 8/43 rank, 5/41 by graduation. Several officer positions in choir and creative writing. a few months of job experience. Bomb essays. not sure what else I can say here ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for the replies you two, I’m clearly not PACE material and so I wish you guys the best of luck in this program.
