Paid deposit but

So in short, I paid the deposit to BU but decided I want to attend another college.

I know it’s non-refundable and I’m not looking for any money, but do I have to inform BU that I won’t be attending BEFORE I send in my deposit to the other college?

I went to the Applicant Link and clicked on “Decline Enrollment” and it just said “
has already paid the enrollment deposit. Please contact <number> for enrollment status.” or something along those lines.</number>

I only have 3 days left and I want to send in my deposit to my other college tonight. What should I do? It won’t be a problem if I send in the enrollment deposit right now and told BU about it later, right?

Send in your deposit for the other school now. Technically you are allowed to submit as many deposits as you want.

Some people (with a little more than extra money) submit two deposits to different schools just to buy more time to decide which to attend.

Oh okay, thanks.

I would double check with your guidance counselor on submitting multiple deposits to schools before May 1st. I’m not 100% sure, but I do not think it’s allowed. I would think you need to decline your acceptance from BU first before sending your deposit to school of choice.

I’m sure you can. The nonrefundable deposit is there so that people wouldn’t double deposit while trying to get the deposit money back. Call them up, tell them you will not be attending, end of story.
