Hello all-
Did any of you get the invite to the overnight visitation feb 1? The email said they will pay for your flight or other travel costs. I applied RD.

yeah I did. Feb 1-2. I think it’s a URM thing. They said I had never visited even though I clearly indicated on the app that I had been there before. Well, still sounds like fun, I may go.

What’s URM mean?

i went to the one in october. . .it was a great experience! i would highly reccomend going because there’s no cost and the overnight experience is something very important to have before deciding on a school. :)

URM means underrepresented minority (Native American, Hispanic, etc.).

So, does it pretty much mean you’re accepted? I applied RD.

I wouldn’t say it’s automatic only because college admissions are unpredictable and it seemed like there were a good amount of kids at the fall event. No idea what the exact number was, but we all had dinner in this huge ballroom and there weren’t too many empty tables. However, if they are willing to pay for you to visit, it’s a great sign because it means they want you to really see the school and fall in love, which happened for me. (now that i think about it, is it possible they already saw your application? If it is, then I would say a good sign!)
but i hope you enjoy your time and good luck!

Yikes. I wasn’t invited. Hopes that means I still have a chance. I’m not an “underrepresented minority” and made it clear in application that I visited in August, but a walk around with tour guide is not nearly as meaningful experience as an overnight. Wish I could join you on the 2-1 trip. But have fun and good luck!

Don’t in any way be discouraged. Based on our research and experiences last year (son is now a freshman at Davidson), I am fairly certain this is a URM-focused opportunity and does not reflect on your chances.

Gosh, what about a URM who hasn’t been invited? That doesn’t seem a good sign.
