@myos1634 Awesome! I have a friend who just got accepted into UA, but his grades are much better than mine. He said he was accepted within a week of sending in his application. I figured worst case scenario I can attend a CC in Arizona (cheaper than CA) and can room with him and split the cost. He’s going this coming Fall and I won’t be going until Fall 2016 so he’ll be able to rent a house or apartment.
SOunds good. Keep working on your GPA, retake the ACT, and things should be fine.
@myos1634 I just contacted a rep from ASU and am waiting for a second reply back. He said a 24+ ACT and 1150+ SAT (M+CR) should get me in the clear. Now does that mean with my current grades or does just give me a fighting chance? I don’t expect him to flat out tell me yes or no considering he works with them and probably doesn’t want to guarantee anything. Do you or anyone else know if there is such a thing as “automatic acceptance” GPA, SAT or ACT score? Thanks!
That means if you have 2.5 GPA.
Iowa has “automatic acceptance for stats”. Maine and Ole Miss too.
@myos1634 Ouch. I don’t think at this stage it is possible to obtain that unless he means JUST junior year and the first part of senior year… Which I don’t think he meant. In that case I think it might just be impossible if they only take into account grades. I’m guessing UA is probably more realistic even though it is a better school. Mostly because of its holistic admissions process.

Just keep in mind that no one actually deserves to go to a certain school. It’s about if the school wants you or not.
@stanfordswag Although I don’t recall saying anything like that, I do agree with you. Of all people I certainly know I don’t deserve anything. I have personal choices and preferences like everyone else, but I understand if I don’t get into the schools I want to.

I really don’t get the whole “bump” thing.
You’ve gotten a lot of good advice in this thread, @FutureHerper. I think we might have run out of new things to say—now it’s time for you to weigh the advice and run with what’s worth taking.
When I said “no one deserves to get in” I was talking about everyone.
Why do you want to go to that school and what can you offer them?
Emphasize that.
@stanfordswag Well first and foremost I can offer them “my” money.
All jokes aside I can offer them a dedicated student who has a lot of potential. I’ve been told most colleges have about the same level of education so I can’t really say because of their education. I like ASU because they’re one of the top business universities outside Ivys. Their location and proximity to places I can get jobs in places I want to work (MLB ballparks, internships, etc).
@dfbdfb Yes, I’ve gotten a lot of advise and I’m very thankful and appreciative I have a while to make my decision, but I think I have a good idea of what I’m going to do.
I appreciate everyone replying and helping me out! It’s hard to express myself through a keyboard, but I really do appreciate everyone who pitched in and commented and either gave me advice or helped me with information.
Some of us take different paths than most and might find themselves later than others, but I’m very confident that I’ll make the right choice and do well.
Don’t forget to come back and post how you’re doing.
Alright, well I think you have a good shot at ASU. Good luck, I have a friend that goes there and he loves it!
@myos1634 No problem. I’ll remember all the great advice given by you and others!
@stanfordswag Thanks! I’m sure I’ll love it too if I get in!
@FutureHerper Oh yeah, the connections are great like you said, especially MLB ballparks.
My friend and his friends go to Lake Las Vegas frequently and it seems like a hotspot for ASU Students.
You should check out Lake Las Vegas, it’s a very beautiful place
@marcojan369 “1. What does Zoology have to do with business? Zoology by definition is the study of animals, so I have no clue how getting Zoology degree will get you into business.”
Who in the hell says you can’t like Zoology and business?
Heck, he could even make & own a huge theme park revolving around a zoo.
That sounds well-rounded to me, which is what colleges want.
I met someone at Stanford a couple of years ago who majored in Love and Magic.
You read that right, Love and Magic, at freaking Stanford. Happiest person I’ve met.
What will help you get a job is what not what major you choose, but how productively you use your summers, and especially what internships you get.
