Parent works at Tulane give an edge in acceptance?

Hey everyone,

I'm so glad I've found this website. Seems to have great people registered to it. Well here goes. I'm a senior in HS and am hoping to attend Tulane. My dad works there as a researcher/asst prof of the Urology dept. and has a tenure. I have a 3.3 GPA unweighted and am taking the ACT on Oct 28(and hopefully get at least a 28 on the test). I'm worried sick about being accepted there since if I get in I will attend my undergrad for free. It's nothing to be sneezed about either since TU is pretty expensive and I would be helping my dad financially. Are my chances increased by my dad working there, do I get accepted no matter what (based on having an ok but not excellent transcript), or does it not help at all? Thanks in advance.

Now don't take anything i say as fact, but two of my roommates right now are sons of professors/administrators of the school. My roommate specifically did not have a steller high school record and still made it in. I think it does help to an extent to be related to the school in a way.

Just out of curiosity, do you live in New Orleans and what high school if so?

Yea, I live in New Orleans and go to Grace King High.

I don't really know then, I'm sorry. My friend went to Jesuit

Have you looked in to schools in the Tuition Exchange Program? Tuition waived sometimes completely and sometimes up to $23,000 at over 500 colleges for employees kids. Tulane participates in this. Tulane requires your father to fill out application in order for you to be "sponsored" by Tulane.
