you can probably guess from the title--moho was pretty generous with the fin aid but it is still not enough for my family. My parental contribution is too high for my parents earning. this year we somehow managed ( i had to use most of the earning from my on campus job to cover the fees!) if i continue to get the same aid, i'll have to use my summer earnings(from internships) as well solely for the fees. makes me feel i won't have any life at all:(...it means i am having to consider transferring out. But the problem is--I clearly love this campus n cannot imagine myself anywhere else. does anyone know if I can talk "fin aid office" into increasing my aid? do u know any instances of that? Even if they cud jus add part of my parental contri to loan, it wud be great! you see i am an international so i don't even have the option to take loan from any outside sources...~ I am in a very good academic standing (but does that even matter?!)

Directly from the Mount Holyoke website:

The same family contribution will be required each year until graduation. (Small increases in the family contribution will occur, due to changes in the packaged job amount.) Due to limited funding, requests for reconsideration of the family contribution cannot be considered regardless of changes in individual circumstances.

I vote for calling them anyway. I've heard about finaid altering packages of recently accepted students. I'm not sure if there have been cases of them doing that after enrollment, but I think you should call and explain that you might need to transfer out otherwise. Explain the details about the loan issues. Even if they don't alter your package, they can help you figure out how to pay. Sometimes there are options we can't see until the experts point them out to us. Good luck!!!

Good luck with what ever you decide to do, the worst they can say is no.

Not to change the subject but my D is applying to Mt. Holyoke.
She did ED2 and I am wondering what her chances are?

How were your girls Gpas in HS?
If you play sports, how helpful was the coach?

How about all the other EC stuff?
thanks, a worried mom.

thank u all....i'll give it a try....i tell you if it works! hope it does

A sad truth is that on every campus there are some students whose discretionary funds amounts to about $1.37 for the semester and that they give up lots of things as a result. I sympathize.

The second sad truth is that, since your already at MHC, you need to walk into the FinAid office and talk to them instead of asking a bunch of folks on the Internet.
