Parent's Weekend Hotels

I second The Garden City Hotel. Great dinner at the 7th Street Cafe. (5 min walk) Walk to starbucks, bank with ATM, deli, bakery and grocery. Also train to NYC is across the street. Lovely SAFE neighborhood.

Also check Enterprise. Had GREAT service from them at the LGA location and so/so service in Great Neck. The price of the rental one time at Great Neck outweighed the price at LGA -- even with taking the cab to the Enterprise outlet in Great Neck from LGA -- still saved $100.

Figure out where you want to take your Plebe for dinner that first night and make reservations. You may end up waiting for hours. Get a mapquest from KP to the resturant, this will enable you to get there quick. Your Plebe will be hungry and you will need a good drink. Remember, you want to make this as stress free on the mid as possible, plan ahead.

If we go to Little Italy does anyone have a recommendation for a good, moderate priced resturant that has killer pasta dishes?

If you are a single,
and a bit of a gambler.
or a lucky sort like me,

then just use your cell phone to call around
area hotels as you drive to KP.

Did this last year, found 2 openings and
stayed at the Raymond Hotel near campus.

I call it "dead reckoning" hotel search.

suzannegra, our kid had already planned out to go to this place so we were lucky in that we didn't have to think about where we were going.

Its just a pizza place but has a cool history. Only takes cash btw. He'd seen it on the Food Network & thought it would be fun. It was. They were having a street festival at the time of our visit so we ate ourselves sick. :D You're probably looking for a more formal place and I'm hoping maybe others will have a suggestion or two.

Do they have other things besides pizza? Although my husband and I love pizza our son is more of a pasta guy.

I bought him a steak the night before Indoc and he asked if I would buy him a steak on parents weekend - so, I'm commited. Any good suggestions for a great steakhouse w/in a 20 minute drive from the Academy?

Peter Luger.....expensive but rated top 10 in country by USA Today and others. They only take cash or their own credit card.

Nah, its just pizza. We ate there for lunch then ran all over the city after. We went back to Burton & Doyle's steak house that evening.
