<p>I have reservations for parents' weekend downtown but found out my son has a regatta that weekend so my husband will not be joining us. It will be my daughter and I visiting. I'm sure she'll be staying with her sister in the dorms so I decided to stay at the Hampton Inn because it would be the easiest and it has gotten great reviews on CC. Well, it's booked. Any other suggestions near school that are totally safe? I won't get a car because I'm not comfortable driving in cities I don't know. Any suggestions? Thanks.</p>
<p>I have stayed alone at the Best Western on St Charles, which is near the Hampton, and I felt perfectly safe. Any place on St Charles should be ok, some are just farther from school.</p>
<p>Another possibility, if they are not booked, Tulane has a few dorm rooms on the first floor of Monroe and at the entrance of the Aaron Residences they rent inexpensively. They are nice sized, clean, and very convenient.</p>
<p>I meet a fellow alum last year for homecoming and we stayed in the rooms in Monroe.<br>
They have a private bath, TV, toiletries etc. You can’t beat the location. </p>
<p>Having lived in Monroe as a freshman back in 1988, it was a surreal experience.</p>
<p>Hotel Indigo is a new hotel on St. Charles.</p>
