Parent's Weekend

Great weekend with ze parentals! :) Hard to believe I only have ONE more!

only 16 days til Parents Weekend!

lol... oh yeah. too bad its only a 2-day weekend and i have to use one of my 4 weekend passes for it! should still be fun

We never made it to the Visitors Center or to Arnold Hall to get the warrior photos..hopefully they will be mailed. It was awesome to spend time with our cadet and to see the classrooms. The game was fantastic and I loved meeting some CC'ers who have to remain nameless I guess, due to confidentiality. It was great! I felt sorry for all the pushups that had to be done, but hope they have to do many, many more this season. Hope all the family members had ( are having) safe trips home and the cadets hold wonderful memories of family time. It was all outstanding. I have a funny story, but have to ask our C4C if she minds if I tell it. Our best to all in your wait for Thanksgiving.

It was funny having my parents sitting right behind you. ;) Stranger for me to hear, "hornetguy?" as I sit down behind you! :)

Parent's weekend was amazing. It was the first time since the end of June that all 4 of us (DH, twin A & B, and me!) were together. The game was fantastic and the time with my cadet was wonderful. The Comp Sci class was very good and I was amazed at how much Arabic has been learned in just a few weeks! But the most amazing part was how neat and put together her room was. I didn't think something like that would ever be possible! We will be attending the Navy game next month and I can hardly wait!

Go Air Force Beat Navy....Hide Eagle :) PW was very nice. The tailgates are always fun. I was sitting at the game and a couple of older grads asked "where is Southern Utah from?" I told them about a 100 miles east of Vegas near St George, and it is more of a community college. The score at the end of the game proved me correct.

Buckaroo...Potter was looking for you to trade shoulder boards but couldn't find you. She did find missmuff though.

We finished the weekend by bringing Korean food back to out favorite Cadet Commander "Duckphreak" I hope her room doesn't smell too bad today.

lol, I talked to Duckphreak at the tailgate and she was sad not to have seen you during the tailgate. Well, sad's not really a reaction I can see her having, but you know! lol

Hornetguy was on duty on Saturday! It was great, and somehow I just KNEW it was you.. too bad the real cadet was on push up duty and couldn't say hey. Eagle, how is Navy? Can you get us intel for the game??

I saw her later in the game, but not before! It's alright though, I got some shoulderboards!

one month til the Navy game! i can't wait, cause USAFA is flying us back for the "prisoner exchange". should be an intersting week leading up to the game too...

as for their team, their QB was out, and the back-up did well. they played a little team too, but Shun White (#26) ran for over 350 yards, breaking Navy's single-game rushing record. they never threw (other than 1 nice option-fake pass over the center of the field), so if we can shut down the run, we should be good.

on defense, they stuffed the run but were lousy against the pass. it'll be a great game. i can't wait to return to USAFA, even if it is just for a weekend

One of our three digs got a one star general shoulderboard. I personally was a "Cadet Technical Captain" for the weekend. I even got greeted on the Terrazo by someone who thought we had to be on the strips once again. Its weird being called sir.

cadet technical captain, nice!

lol.. i was a simple cadet tech sgt :(

Fencersmother is back in Steeler Country but missing her 4*'s. They looked great and it was nice to see a couple of CCers there too. Some I missed (MISSMUFF!, Buckaroo!), and some of you- we probably sat next to you at the game and didn't realize it.

Surprising observations: I had not realized just how HUGE those dorms are. Gigantic! I forget just how spread out the campus is. If Twin who lives in the far SW corner of Sijan forgets something for fencing, it is really a long way to fetch it and return to the gym.
We loved the many first downs AF had during the game - that's pretty intimidating for the opposition, I'm sure. We laughed at the "You Can't Do That!" cheer too. I wish we lived closer; we'd go to ALL the games.
I was really impressed by all the parents and cadets we met. What a great group of people. One cadet had her 7 little siblings with her, including a baby sis who was born June 1st!

Fencers family had a blast! Now, fencersdaughter thinks she wants AFA too! (Look out world!)

i ended up as a cadet Senior master sergeant major! that was pretty fun! but i got sunburnt! oh well, it was worth it!

I know I am replying late on this, but PW rocked! Miss Muff, I think I spotted you at the pre-game tailgate, but you were on a cell phone and didn't want you to get nervous about the older guy standing around (bwahaha). Besides, I had to get back to the CS-23 grill so I could have some Brats.

BTW on Friday I fell asleep in Calculus - reminded me of my good old undergraduate days.

I thought the Falcon display at halftime was very cool.

Well, enough randomness. I hope you all are doing well.

SD

Addendum...

My brain isn't firing on all cylinders yet and I wanted to add a question and an observation in addition to the above post.

Observation:

We went to Batman on Saturday night and there were probably 20 other cadets and their families there. And this was in the theater on the south side of town.

Question

Muff: Did you see Mama Mia? Did you sing?

Soaring Dad - MissMuff is gone for the weekend, I had to chime in.
When we could stop laughing hysterically, we sang. Loudly. Until the final credits rolled. Without a doubt that was the worst movie ever made. Also one of the most fun, but only if you're a die hard ABBA fan.

After the football game Potter and I headed back to Denver. We stopped for a steak at the Traildust Steahouse. My father used to take me there as a kid. In the parking lot there was another cadet changing from Parade Dress (Drum & Bugle Corps). We looked closer and it was one of her squadmates from last year.

It was nice meeting Falcons11, Missmuff, G4C, Hornet, Flymom and Daughter. Good times :) The football game was great, and the guys behind me asked where is SUU from. I told them about 100 miles east of Vegas, but it was more of a Community College. The score told the rest of the story.

Today we say Go Falcons beat the Cowboys. Christcorp might find this a fun game.

Nice win for AF today.

ds52262,

It was SO great to finally meet you and potter in person! Thanks for finding us! :)

We had a wonderful PW...that is, up until my son decided he wanted to have an inside look at Memorial Hospital! A few stitches later and he was good to go! ---Wonderful hospital by the way! (He took a fall OFF of Pikes Peak, and I'm not kidding) He's very lucky is all I can say.

We loved the flight simulator and attending classes. The teachers seem so very nice and approachable.

D even took her dad hiking up Eagle's Peak on Sunday morning! And then we thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jack's Valley!

We loved the Colorado coolness. We're back home in the miserable humidity now.

D absolutely loves USAFA. I've never seen her more happy.

Now we count down to Thanksgiving...
