flymom - my heart skipped a beat when I read your post! Glad to hear your son is fine.

Our "very capable and confident and cautious driving" cadet, and his buddy, drove my husband and I up Pike's Peak! I have a fear of heights and had no idea that 99.9% of the drive is "at the edge, no guard rail" scary!! Not much up there to keep you from blowing off the top of the mountain either!

We, too, had a great THIRD PW and as before, this one was yet again different from either of the other two! Amazing the changes in cadets from one year to the next.

I missed meeting some of those I meant to meet - another time!

I didn't know you were there BJ10mom. I did get to meet your Cadet at the Tailgate party. PW was different this year, and so was the new Squadron. Potter is maturing, but will always be my little (emphasis on little girl). Her new roommate is a great match, too bad it is only for a semester. The Tailgate was a lot of fun, and you can see the spirit of each squadron there. The game was a bit of a blow out, but all you can ask for at PW.

When I arrived on Friday morning I had to park at the rugby feilds and walk up to the Chapel. It didn't look like a long way, but by the time I got there my opinion changed. I texted Potter telling her I was sitting on the Chapel steps having my heart attack. She texted me back a while latter asking if I was still there. Lesson learned even a short walk at that altitude can kill you.

I'm sure my parents were glad for the chauffeur service! Since my parking spot is next to Vandy, I drove down and met them at the 2-dig lot and drove back up next to vandy. No walking needed. :) Funny watching the huge crowd heaving up the hill to get there. :) I love Group Staff parking!

ds - Yes! Sorry I missed you. Should have coordinated better before hand. Next time! :) I did get to meet some new wonderful cadets and families and reconnect with old contacts but I wished I had met more families.

Yes, our cadets mature with each year. My cadet, whom we did not see as much of this year, and who did not spend one night with us in the hotel, has certainly gained new independence with a vehicle. :) But, the chauffeur service was nice and the no driving up to The Hill to retrieve him before each activity. Instead, we were picked up at the hotel most of the time. What a change!

I see the two degrees as more confident, more mature, more purposeful, more committed than ever before. There is a huge difference in these cadets between three and two degree year. Great cadets! Makes me very proud to know them.

Then, there are the classes........Particle in a Box? PChem was a total washout for me. Love the instructor though! Then, there was the history class that was so boring, I wondered if it was that way all the time and if so, how do the cadets stay awake? (Sorry, AFA staff, telling the truth here!)

Great PW. Sad to think there is only one to go!

ah, soaringdad, wish you'd said hi! it's hard to make me scared, though hornet manages.. :)

it was good to meet ds after hearing so much

and yes, as my mother stated, we sang loudly at the worst movie ever. funny thing-theater was packed and people were very upset with us for laughing! hehehe

On saturday at triathlon practice, our OIC kept playing ABBA songs over and over on his car radio as he was chasing us on our bikes...So it's like I saw the movie with my eyes closed, kinda...

missmuff,
did you see the "sing-along" version? the first time i saw "Mama-Mia" the words did not appear at the bottom of the screen, but when we saw it in CS the words were on the screen. that seems to me to be an invitation to sing along...and we did!

lol, txtwinmom, my mamma wanted to take me to that, but it was only at certain times. didn't matter-we knew the words. hehehehe. can't believe i'm divulging these secrets.

zman, saw you tonight :D and if it was truly abba, it has nothing on colin firth and pierce brosnan singing their songs.....focl!

My husband, who only went because the "estrogen ocean" (that's how he refers to me and our 2 girls) didn't give him a choice, was sure that we were trying to kill him with that movie. He did make it through without his "man card" being taken away.
Mama Mia is an absolutely awful movie and we loved every minute of it!
We also enjoyed Batman the next day.
