Parking on Campus!

How crazy is it to try to get into lts A,B,D,X,1 or 2? It would be really cool if i could but i dont know how the system works. They say on the website that transportation is first come first serve but that it is also subject to administrative consideration...what does that mean...if i am a freshman does it mean that under "consideration" they probably wont give me the one that i wanted? ahh...this system is crazy

I think if you have to live off campus for a good reason and commute then they would take that into account. But otherwise I don't know.

i already ordered/reserved a permit for the "parking center" so hopefully it gets confirmed.

for those who need it the site is:
http://transnet.usc.edu/Permits/login.aspx

"The on-campus structures and row lots (27,28) go on sale Thursday, May 11th at 12:00 noon, also for the 2006-2007 school year."

Did you accidentally order a summer permit?

"parking center" is an off campus site. it's like a block away. i don't mind parking on an off campus site since i wont be using my car too much and it would be cheaper than an on campus permit

oh yea here's a map of the structures for anyone:
http://transnet.usc.edu/Parking/map_frame.aspx

If you're bringing your car, I call shotgun for a season pass. :D

Are you sure you can handle LA drivers?

Should I buy PSX or PSD? I'm planning on dorming in Birnkrant or Pardee.

LA drivers aren't that bad. Just make sure to go 10-15 mph above the speed limit. If there's a cop, go 5 above. That's what I do.

"Should I buy PSX or PSD? I'm planning on dorming in Birnkrant or Pardee"
hmm, i think it shouldn't matter to much since both are on campus and pretty close to each other. they will probably cost the same too, but i'm not sure.

"Are you sure you can handle LA drivers?"
hahha, yea i should be okay. they do get crazy sometimes though haha

Yeah, it gets pretty annoying. I'm going 50 in a 40 mph area and people are tailgating and cutting me off.

LA driving isn't that bad. The main difference I've heard from some is that there are more lanes in the freeways than people in smaller areas are used to, so be sure to be good at lane changes.

You can't buy PSX, because it is visitor parking. Go with PSD, it is the closest to you.

Plus many of the freeways were built before people really knew how to build freeways (since they were 1st in the nation), so for example, try going up the 110 freeway north to the 10 east. In order to actually get on the real 10 east, you have to change lanes at least 4 or 5 times; if at any point you stay in your lane, you end up on some other freeway :)
