how much do shrine permits cost? and is possible to buy them for just one semester?

i think you buy them monthly, actually, though i am not sure of cost.

They can be purchased for the semester for about $300.00 (they might have raised the price for Fall). They're good through the same dates as an SC permit, but you do have to watch out for the special events (you'll have to find another place to park on those days). They also manage the parking at the Science Center/Coliseum off of Exposition and will give that as the alternate parking (south side of campus). They're pretty good at letting you know ahead of time (signs and flyers). I usually just looked for parking on the street or went to the other site.

Oh, I'm also not sure about buying monthly passes though I have seen them. Teachers and staff from 32nd St. School (K-12 school next door to the lot) and others also park there and I think they have monthly passes.

so, i'm strongly considering buying a semester permit at the shrine. a few questions/caveats:

1) on the shrine form, it says the structure closes at 11pm. does this mean that i won't be able to get in and get my car post-11pm, or just that there isn't an operator past that time?

2) will i have a chance to buy an usc on-campus permit for the spring semester?

bump*****

Well, it has been two years since i used shrine, but when i was there, they had this extra side lot that they opened after 11 so that you could park there if you got in late, but if your car was in the main shrine building past 11, yep, it was staying there till the next morning.

u can only buy permits on select days right? I believe the next sale day is on July 18th. So if I wanted to purchase one today, I can't right?

USCwannabe - where'd you get the july 18th date? as far as i know, on-campus parking is sold out. i hope you're right though.

i just called campus parking and they said that on july 18th, more permits would go on sale due to cancellations. so, this may be good news.

yea i got it off the site. Did u find on campus housing oxygen?? Im thinking for us transfers, since we will most likely have off campus housing, rly dnt need a parking permit.

yeah, i signed a lease on an apartment from conquest housing. it's like 8 blocks from campus, though, so i'm still going to get a permit.

on www.thepermitstore.com it says there's two left and two sold...should i wait till the 18th or jump on it while i can?

i'm a Transfer Student...1st post, yay

as a senior next year i've had a car since i got here and i FINALLY was able to get a permit (since freshman year i got my car mid year and sophomore year i thought i was going to transfer so didnt bother and last time i forgot).

this was the first year i actually remember the sale and got up on time for it (partly for them having it at 12 instead of 8 and me being on central time so it was actually at 2 for me).

so i finally got a permit......bonus.

as much as i got screwed in the past, i like this system better than UCLA's, with there's i probably would have been even moreso screwed, at least if i had remembered in the past, since they do it by seniority and some odd "point" system.

put in my order for the UPX lot

when ordering, it stated:

Delayed Approval/Payment

This permit application requires administrative approval from Parking Management. Payment for this permit will not be processed until approval has been granted.

How can I make sure Ill be able to park somewhat nearby BTW, how is crossing the Freeway?

If you mean how is crossing UNDERNEATH the freeway from the parking center, it is ok during the day. You walk under the big freeway overpass, it is not like you are dodging cars or something. As for safety though, as soon as you venture outside of Fig you are leaving the SC safety corridor and should be a little weary of others....if going there at night, always walk with a friend or take Campus Cruiser, for instance. Good luck!
