Hello,

So as a newly admitted transfer student, who is probably going to have to commute to USC since USC housing is full, I wasn't aware that there USC has a lottery for parking passes.
Neither did I know that registration ends June 30th. So, I am a bit concerned now.
The website says that left over spaces go on sale July 22nd. However, that further concerns me since parking at USC is most likely difficult to find, I assume that there won't be many left over spots.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Current commuting students, are the daily parking structures like PSX usually full?

Any advice is helpful.

Thank You Very Much!

I’ve only ever parked in PSA but from my experience you can always find parking in the parking structures; although, usually you have to park on the sixth level or roof.

You know what they say about assuming.

USC doesn’t run out of parking because of the very large Parking Center east of campus. Parking Structure 2 next to the Galen Center is also unlikely to fill up. You will get one of those spots easily. However, you have likely missed out on all the on-campus lots like PSA and PSX. I was in the same situation before my sophomore year when I got a car. I ended up in PS2 which was slightly annoying but survivable.

It won’t be for the whole year–there is a new lottery every semester. Just don’t miss the next one.

I was always able to find parking at USC. Parking is a non-issue.

Hey guys,

Are there any free places to park around UPC (that you consider safe)? I need to go to the UPC for graduate student orientation, but it’s only a few hours. I don’t need a full day permit…

Thanks!

Yeah, you can parallel park on the residential streets for free if you don’t mind walking a bit.

So I shouldn’t stress out about USC parking too much?

Thanks for the help guys.

PS3 fills up quickly because that is where a lot of the visitors go, but overall you will always find parking. Free parking maybe difficult but that applies to all of LA county.

Ok thank you, as a commuting transfer student I got really concerned when I realized I missed out on the parking permit lottery.

We weren’t sure about leaving a car on campus but since my daughter got lot Z which is BEHIND Gateway apts I think it’s not going to happen this semester. Lot Z is not even on the map (had to call to find its location) and doesnt have a price listed.

Lot Z isn’t available through the parking lottery. It is usually only available to people who live in some of the campus housing apartments located near there I think. The lottery is only for all of the large parking structures like psx, psa, psd etc.

My D is a freshman in Marks tower and lot Z is what’s stated in her parking lottery email. When I called to find out where it was the person on the phone spent a couple of minutes looking it up! Maybe that’s all they had left?
