<p>If you live in the dorms, is there anywhere to store your car for free? There are some residential neighborhoods within walking distance of EQ/SQ, but I'd imagine there's a lot of competition for those spots. Is it do-able if you go that route? I have to have a car this year for my job, which is too far away from campus to bike or walk to, and busing is a nightmare I don't want to deal with.</p>
<p>u’ll have to buy a parking pass, there are orange, blue, yellow, and gold passes. All giving you different privledges. This can get pricey though. Otherwise u can just park on the streets w/ coins. Also you should ask ur employeer to see if he can do something for you. Hope this helps.</p>
<p>You could try a few ideas. You can apply for a parking pass through U-M but even if you can get the pass, you will need to go north campus (or maybe Oxford) to get the car.</p>
<p>You can try parking the car on the street but then you will always be looking for a space. I wouldn’t do this unless you use the car a few times a week so you can keep an eye on it.</p>
<p>You can try to rent a space from someone who has an extra space and doesn’t need it.</p>
<p>You can only buy a University parking pass (and only orange) if you have junior/senior standing. You can’t park your car in those lots longer than 48? hours or you’ll get ticketed and possibly towed.</p>

<p>Has something changed since I was in school? I had a parking pass that allowed me to park long term in the Baits lots, and I applied and got it starting sophomore year.</p>

<p>I bought a non-student parking pass to park in the structure at 4th and williams when I was a commuter. But that was $130 a month. At the time, the only alternative was to park all the way by the stadium and take the bus to central. Most of the orange lots, which were the only things available, were nowhere near campus. Unless you get really lucky, I think your only options are going to be a republic pass (what I had), get a school pass (and have to take the bus to and from your car), or just take the bus to work.</p>
<p>Well…I’m gonna give residential parking a go. I don’t mind hunting for a spot and I know the area pretty well and frankly, need the car but don’t have the money to pay for parking so, we’ll see.</p>
