I just got a letter in the mail saying I'm receiving only partial certification. I'm looking at the certification form they mailed me, and it appears the only place I didn't get the 3 unit credit for was in Area 6 which is language other than english; however, I passed both spanish 1 and 2 in high school.

How do you guys think I should resolve this? Could my admission be revoked? Who should I get in contact with?

..For some reason, I'm not really that worried though..

I sent in my hs transcript directly to the uc. In fact, I handed it in to them in person. It’s the easiest thing to do, and quickest. Plus, they can see that you passed it immediately. Always bypass the middleman (-person, for political correctness?), if possible.

Okay, since I thought about it (and I can’t edit my post now), I realize the cc has to “certify” the IGETC so I would think going in person to the cc and asking right there to certify it and then have them give you a copy of the official transcript w/certification would be a good option. I would then take it in person to the UC since the 15th is so close. I know that sounds extreme, but things like this aren’t good to leave up to chance.

well, dont take it easy. Not able fulfilling the IGETC certification will cause you to stay in community college one more year. U should contact ur highschool and said this is a emergency… couple frd of mine had their admission rescinded because not able to have a full IGETC certification. so… BE AWARE and call@!!!

building on this thread: i’m expecting to finish IGETC by next semester. would it be too jumping the gun if i sent my HS transcripts for foreign language to my CCC sometime this summer? just to get it done right off the bat, so i could get certified immediately?

i had it solved, i just went back to my cc and they told me to show them transcripts from my high school in order to verify i finished 2 years of spanish, after they see that they say they will fully certify me and notify ucla.

*note igetc certification isn’t due until sometime in september, but final transcripts are due by this thursday (july 15)

Uh oh, I’m scared this may come up for me. Just had my IGETC certification request done today to be sent to Cal but I did my foreign language in high school. My CC doesn’t have my high school transcript but Cal does and it’s been verified. I guess I’ll have to wait and see if this becomes an issue. How long was it from when you requested certification from your CC and when you got the letter saying it was partial? Thanks!

Oh crap, I didn’t think about this. I did my foreign language at high school too and my CC doesn’t have my high school transcripts, I think. Ugh :/

depends on where and for what major. most of the time partial IGETC with a single course missing won’t kill you. keep in mind admission already said that the courses you took were OK. Full IGETC is best though.
