now before i get any further, i am just letting you know that i have looked at the other threads about social life/party scene

i am stuck between UCSD and UCLA...
i have bioengineering pre-med at UCSD, and i have bioengineering at UCLA
i know UCSD is the best UC in this field/department/major

BUT.....

I am hoping any current students or recently graduated ones can help me out a bit
i want to know more info. on the party scene and social life at UCSD
like how hard is it to find parties, do many ppl drink?, really how bad/good are the girls
ALL INFO IS MUCH APPRECIATED

I have to submit the SIR by May 1st, and both schools are basically equal for me right now tho i am leaning to SD...though i really want more info on party scene/social life

Party life is easy if you join a frat, you can party every night of the week if you want to.
If you don’t join a frat it’s a little harder but if you make friends with the right people you’re good.

well like i just wanna party weekends and jus have fun
cuz every1 seems to say SD is socially dead…
like i mean is it easy/common for ppl 2 drink and stuff in dorms?
like maybe beerpong or whatnot…
especially cuz like marshalls dorms are like 6 rooms (4 single 2 triple i think) all opening into one common living room…so beerpong wud be easy there i guess

do most ppl party off campus or in dorms or where?

Parties are mostly off campus. Get a clue, you are not going to get different answers on your thread then the ones already posted. We beg of you, PLEASE go to UCLA.

thx for the replies
and by the way, comp. sci. guy i actually did read the other posts
i was lookin for new info.

lol “we beg of u please go to ucla”…are u at SD and just dont want me there? lol i got into bioeng. premed so im not like stupid/party crazy if thats what ur thinking

Go to UCLA
more parties and a D1 football team ( so hot cheerleaders ) ; UC San Diego is just Socially Dead but they do tend to brag about their undefeated football team ( kinda funny since they don’t have one and the last game they lost to was against CalTech )

Let’s put it this way: if you end up not partying here, that is entirely your fault. Just as it would be at UCLA, or any other university.

“Do many people drink?” ***? It’s college. What do you think?

When you get here you’ll realize that no one goes around wondering about the “social life/party scene” because they’ve learned to actually do something for themselves. I’ve never actually met anything close to a real life version of HS2009, which is probably why I’m enjoying this year so much.

97% of the time I hear concerns like “omg is ucsd social,” it’s coming from this forum only. And most of the remaining 3% are laughing at that 97.

What everyone says is true. The “socially dead” aspect of UCSD is only on the forums. Once your there, I assure you, it is a different story.

Girls there are not ugly at all. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What one guy think is ugly another person thinks she is pretty.

The stereotype of all of this is getting annoying, why are people giving UCSD a bad reputation. If any, almost ALL schools have at least some sort of “ugly man/woman” thing going on. Even UCLA has some.

To answer your question straight: UCSD party life is not dead, but it takes effort to find them. Girls are dependent on the type of girls you like. As an incoming freshman also, and BioE ; Pre-med, just look forward on what’s going to happen, don’t let these discouraging rumors get to you.

UCLA and UCSD both have a high prestige factor. It’s your choice to choose between these two fine universities. I recommend going to UCSD because of its highly ranked Bio program. UCLA is good, but UCSD has a better edge in supplying what you need for your major as well as your career path.

thx for the replies, and lol sum ppl above stop hijackin the thread and talkin about ur own beefs

lol
AND just clearing it up, education is the first factor for me
and i know sd is like 3rd or 4th in nation for bioengineering

but, i am thinkin like if i dont want to do bioeng. and switch my major, chances are that ucla will be better in most other majors

so basically, i have both schools ranked equally…and that is why i now am turning to see which school would be more fun as a LAST resort…parties are close to being the deciding factor ONLY because everything else balances the schools out, and i have looked at all other aspects, including having visited both schools over summer

Haaaaaahahahahaaha
Any decent parties aren’t going to be filmed! Damn I wish you could all come to some of the frat parties I go to. Seriously then you would get it.

UCSD is cool. Though I’m one of the nerds. Partying = not fun, rather be doing something productive with my time imo.

therefore UCSD = right for me.

tis a shame how people are bashing on UCSD yet they haven’t seen UCSD social life themselves. I for one, seen the parties at UCSD during my vast amount of visits.

:) Seriously UCLA and UCSD are both EXTREMELY hard choices. We can’t help you choose you choice, so DICE ROLL!!! :D

I’m just tired of all the “no party life” talk on the forums that rarely appears in real life.

Of course, there’s only one way to gradually eliminate all that talk, and that’s to address all the comments with real experiences.

I wasn’t hurt in any way (lol, really…?), what it actually seems like is outsiders get hurt when current students come out and say good things about the school. It’s pretty sad.
