Since junior year, I've been resolved to work progressively hard in college and attend a top university. You can imagine my sheer excitement when I discovered that I had been accepted into NU's '15 class (it was one of my 3 #1 choice's, tied with Columbia and Duke). But now that all of that is aside, I find myself now asking some the trivial questions that incoming students usually tend to ask. The most prominent being: How is the party life at Northwestern? I know that it probably won't have that much of a party atmosphere like that of U of Texas, and I wouldn't mind if I find out that the party life isn't as good as I hoped it to be. Honesty, part of me hopes that there isn't much constant partying going on, as I would like to mostly study during my 4 years there and would like it if there was more of an intellectual vibe around campus than a diehard party one. But academics aside, I would still like to have some good ole college fun (wink, wink). I would still like to get other opinions on the matter though, to try and form a concrete image in my head. Also, are they're any schools nearby or in Chicago that have a reputation of being party schools, ones that I can swing by and have some fun in? Thanks in advance for all your input.

I have heard from students that there really isn’t a strong party scene due to all the bs work that you are given.

there are definitely more than enough parties that you won’t need to be dropping by other schools for some fun

There are always plenty of things going on. Frat parties, people going to the Keg/into Chicago, people off-campus having parties, etc. There’s something most nights of the week, with the big nights being Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I’m not big into partying, so I’ve only been to a couple, but people in my dorm (not even a “party dorm”) go out all the time. It’s not exactly Madison, but there’s plenty of time to party…but you don’t have to in order to have fun/fit in/what have you. Considering you want some flexibility in the pressure to party, it might actually be a good fit.
