My DD22 was just assigned to Pasquilla West in a quad suite. Does anyone have any experience with this dorm. We know it does not have modular furniture but don’t know if the beds are loft or can be lifted
My sister lived there years ago. Congrats to your dd!! Go Irish!
I’m not sure of current form furniture. I bet if you called res life they would tell you. Any online dorm tours available?
Younger D also assigned there to a double! No info about furniture but older D says it’s a great dorm with tons of spirit.
My daughter ('17) lived in PDub. Furniture is modular in some rooms, some have metal bunk beds. Suites are 3 rooms. My daughter’s sophomore year she lived in a suite. Middle room used as common room, sides as bedrooms. FWIW in both bedrooms they lofted the beds to create some room. Junior fall she lived in a double; room had metal bunk beds which they kept bunked. Agree with what everyone says about Pasquerilla West, great dorm, great spirit.
Did you just buy risers to lift the beds or something more specific for the beds?
Actually her freshman year room was a forced triple in a converted study room and I think they may have bought risers. For the quad, they bought a wooden loft system that had to be put together to lift the beds. The bed frames were then put in the storage room and only the horizontal spring thing (can’t think of another way to describe it) and mattress were used. I’m pretty sure at some point you can get info about where to purchase the loft kit and I do know they need to be university approved. Honestly, though, don’t get too worried about it. You will find there are plenty of people on the Welcome Weekend staff to help out with anything you need during move-in.

About “Lofts”
Many rooms have modular
furniture. As such, not all
room configurations are
eligible for the construction of
lofts. Please consider the
following:
Some rectors restrict the
construction of lofts.
If your room has modular
furniture, you cannot
construct a loft.

I know that most of the quads in PDub have metal bunk beds and they do generally choose to loft them. As I recall there is a built in wardrobe and two desks. I’m having trouble remembering if there were dressers as well. There will also be a sink in the room which, for my daughter, was in a very inconvenient place.
Pasquilla West does not have modular furniture thus the question about risers and lofts
My daughter’s room freshman year definitely had modular furniture, but they didn’t utilize it because the ceiling was too low and the room was big enough to have all 3 beds on the floor. Those rooms now have reverted back to their original use so they very well may not use modular furniture in the dorm any more… Another type you will see isn’t considered modular; rather there is a riser system which lifts the bed to about the same height as modular furniture will. These beds are also able to be bunked. I’ve never seen this type of furniture in PDub, but thats not to say they don’t have it. The only type that requires a wooden loft is the metal bunk which I strongly suspect is what’s in your daughter’s room. You will see when you get there that the rooms are very small and it’s difficult to create floor space without lofting. Just make sure, as a precaution, that you take tools to build it when you move in. A power drill will make life much easier! If you have any other specific questions, feel free to pm me. Also, there is a very detailed explanation of the lofting requirement/procedure in Du Lac which can be found on ND’s website.
@Virgmom - I saw that after I posted. Ooops!
