Hi,

I just changed one of my classes to pass or no pass. I don't plan on passing due to my current obligations and personal problems. I have a 100% in the class right now but don't think i can pull off the term paper and final while keeping my other grades in check and balancing my other obligations.

The question is should I still go to class? Do I still need to do the term paper and final? Or do I not need to go to class anymore or do anything since i plan on receiving a no-pass. I am a first year student and still new to this. BTW this is an upper div. small lecture style only class where everybody looks really old if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

Unless the syllabus states that you will get an incomplete for not completing assignments (which is never the case) you will just get a no pass.

I would talk to the professor and let him know the situation, maybe he will cut you some slack and give you an easy way out with a pass with some conditions.

Current obligations and personal problems? I’m sorry, but unless it’s something really dramatic or if you’re getting deported or something, I don’t see why you can get your other classwork done and completely ditch this one. I’d still try my best and just go with it and see what I can make happen…

Then again, I can’t really comment much since I don’t know the exact problems you’re in, but yeah, do try and talk to your professor, but technically, to answer your question, yeah, you should be able to ditch your classes and stuff…

If you don’t plan on passing, why would you go to class? Why don’t you just try to drop with a W? No pass is basically and F so I don’t really see the point of changing the grading. But what I’m really wondering is, if you’ve managed a 100% 8 weeks in, why can’t you just BS the last paper and perhaps end up getting like an 80% or something…?
