Hoping someone can answer a few questions. I am trying to reach the cashier's office, but not able to get through to someone as of yet.

I understand that there is a payment plan option offered for all tuition, room and board, etc. I also understand that the 10 payment plan begins June 1.

My questions are:

1 - when/how do you sign up for this? - I followed links to the website to sign up, but don't know if now is the right time or if we need to wait until we see actual charges in our Student Center Account info.

2 - When do we being to see dorm, meal plan and tuition charges?

3 - If the charges are not there, how can the payment plan start? If it doesn't take a first payment on June 1, does anyone know how payments are handled if you don't start on that first payment date?

If UNC uses Tuition Management Systems (and I don’t know if they do, not involved w UNC), the company is notoriously late in starting their payment plans; don’t worry about it, you won’t be penalized…

Our daughter’s HS used them for the last four years: we have made the first payment late for all four years…they are just really slow…

You can call UNC bursar to get more info, and go ahead and fill out the forms…they can’t charge you anything until they send you a contract for TMS…and TMS processes it…

Thanks for the replies. UNC does use Tuition Management Systems to handle their payment plans. Although unable to get through to UNC, I did reach someone at TMS and they gave me the following info:

1 - You must enroll no later than July 31st to take advantage of the payment plan.

2 - Payments begin June 1. If you enroll after that, any payments that should have been made will be collected immediately at the time of enrollment.

3 - They understand that UNC doesn’t have any charges listed in student accounts yet and suggest that you estimate the amount you want them to take monthly. So, estimate that after loans, grants, etc. you will be paying UNC $10,000 for the year, you tell them that you want them to take $1,000 per month. This amount can be adjusted anytime you need to adjust. Either online or on the phone with them. So, if you find out last minute that you’ve received some other funds, you can have them lower the amount of your payment to reflect this.

4 - The 12 month payment plan is only for returning students.

Hope this additional info can help anyone else that was looking for some info on this.
