Peabody for Non-Music Majors

How isolated is Peabody from the Homewood campus?

As an engineering major, would I have equal access to teachers and ensembles as for music majors?

How is the bus that goes between Peabody and Homewood? Does it suck to have to travel so much?

Is Peabody ridiculously hard to get into?

How are the professors and the trumpet teachers?

No expert here - I'm just another prospective freshmen (but is going to double degree between JHU & Peabody).

Peabody is pretty far away from Homewood, at least it's not a distance that you want to walk... There is shuttle between the campuses. I'm not sure will it "sucks" or not, but I'm going to take it probably everyday for the next five years... :)

You can do music minor if you're a Homewood student. There is no equal access to teachers and ensembles, unfortunately. For teachers availability for Homewood student, it depends on instruments. For ensembles, you have to audition, and according to one of the student bloggers in Hopkins Interactive, it's pretty hard to get into the Peabody ensembles.

Peabody is not ridiculously hard to get into - it all depends on your instruments and your performance level.

I would advise you to go to the music major forum on CC:

There are a lots of parents who are very knowledgable about music schools (if you're looking for Peabody) and about teachers (if you're looking for trumpet teachers).

You can probably email the student blogger on Hopkins Interactive (I forgot her name) for more information about music minor since she is doing music minor.
