Pencils v. Pens v. Mechanical Pencils

So I’m seeing most of you are in love with Uniball for pens? :stuck_out_tongue: What would you say is the best mechanical pencil, then?

Mechanical pencils by far! They provide the sharp points that normal pencils can only provide when freshly sharpened but at ALL times. Then, they provide the erasability that pens can’t.

All ppl who are particular about how small/thin their words are use mechanical pencils I can guarantee.

The ONLY pens I will use are the one’s that have gel ink and a .5mm point.

Ticonderoga pencils for math / science. Any pen will do for everything else.

I used to do my math in pen, but the work got harder and I started making more mistakes.

NO! I prefer standard Bic ballpoints (though I have a lucky debate pen that I was given by someone… not Uniball though)

I use the Bic mechanical pencils that come in the 25/30-packs.

Anything less then .5mm is good for me. Whenever I see .3mm pens I get all excited inside. [=

well im a mechanical guy for math and math only
i started to use pens after taking AP psych with a teacher that only lectures and doesnt give notes, so im a pen person bc its faster and you dont have to worry about breaking lead or anything and screw erasing, just cross out!
specifically the bic grip pens that you can buy like 24 for a buck

Ticonderoga + Penmate + Pentel (for pen-spinning during boring periods)

I use Mirado pencils, Pilot + Bic+ other pens for me. Rarely have used mechanical pencils since 8th grade for some reason lol! Maybe papermate products idk hehe.

Use pencil for math, science, history (sometimes pen), and spanish; pen for English (teacher rule) and debate (can write faster during tourneys).

Mechanical pencils, definitely. The best ones are the yellow papermate ones.
Pens are okay when I am taking notes, but they can be a little messier for me.

Mechanical pencil b/c it would not run out of ink and you won’t need to sharpen it

Agreed, the worst thing that can happen is when your one pen runs out of ink in the middle of an essay…

If I am just writing notes, pen all the way. It may be messier but I write much faster with a pen.
If I writing something I would be turning in to a teacher–essay, homework, test–mechanical pencil.

Why are the erasers on the end of Ticonderoga pencils so much better than other pencil tip erasers? You would think that pencil companies test their erasers on their own pencil lead, so how come 1/10 of all pencils I use still induce that smudgy BS? This is actually a source of mystery.

^Yeah, I’ve wondered that too. That’s another reason I use Ticonderoga pencils. They’re soft and their erasers fulfill their purpose.

I know, it is the strangest thing and it makes me mad. That is why I use mechanical pencils, they usually have good erasers…

Pens all the way! They’re smoother and faster to write with and leave nice dark marks instead of palish gray.

I stick to the good old wooden #2 for most of my needs, just what i’ve been used to for the last 12 years.

Bic mechanical pencils for math, and pens for everything else. I don’t like using regular pencils. They get dull so quickly! I really like Pilot ink pens.

I used to use mechanical pencils all the time, now i cant stand them. I use pencils now

Butbutbut pens! They’re so smooooth!
