I think u missed the part of my post above that says "I have everything else in that class finished except the final which I plan to take on June 8th"

My admissionn decison page has been the same for almost a month. =( 15 business days my a**. I'm so scared, I don't want to go to UCI or CSULB. I'm going to cry myself to sleep.

I think you will be fine because basically it's almost like your'e taking it this spring, since you will have your grade for the class a week after june 8th. Since transcripts for spring are not due until July 15th, I dont see how this can go against you.

Have you submitted your SIR to UCLA yet?

FYI when i updated and was advised that i would recieve an email, i didnt, i recieved a POSTCARD in the mail.. in regular post mail.

its a small postcard that have like two options, one that says your admission isnt affected and the other that says please contact me immediatly.

mine was "your admission is not affected:

so just look for that instead of an email

Yes, I did submit my SIR.

HEy did anyone email newbruins@blahblhalbah.edu

Member posted 05-10-2006 01:53 PM Click Here to See the Profile for mark21 I talked to the UCLA rep at my school because I am in a similar position. She told me that whille they use to be okay with students finishing requierments in summer, they are now very strict with that. What can help you out in this situation is if you had a good reason for not finishing the class in the spring and also if you have a strong gpa. She also told me that once you are admitted they try to do everything they can do to work with you. Im not saying dont worry because this wont effect you because it might. Just have a good outlook and hope for the best. By the way what is your major? because they might that into consideration as well. Try not to stress out you are not the only one who is in this position. The UCLA rep who I talked to told me she was in the same position of not finishing statistics by spring but UCLA let her take it in the summer. As well I know of a lot of students who reported changes.

Member posted 05-25-2006 07:12 PM Click Here to See the Profile for navarro I received a letter today from UCLA. My admission for the fall quarter has been withdrawn. I will be admitted to the winter quarter if I complete the summer course.

Member posted 05-25-2006 07:13 PM Click Here to See the Profile for navarro Do u think that is worth it. How will it affect my financial aid(pell grant) if I wait for the winter quarter? any ideas?

Wow, thx for that post. Makes me feel alot better. My UCLA rep told me to call her today to see the status of my admission. I have my fingers crossed and am hopeful. Luckily, I am not going to be taking any UCLA required courses during summer. Just have to take the Calc 2 final on June 8th. I will post their decision once I get it.

OMG! They withdrew my application. When I was speaking to the UCLA counselor before this whole thing, I told her that rite now I have a high "C" in the class and asked if there was anyway where I could take the Final in the Summer to ensure that I get a "B". Apparently she took this thinking I am going to receive a C in the class. Anyways, the committee made the decision to withdraw my application. OMG! I asked if I could appeal this and she said to appeal after I get my final grade. I asked what are the chances of my re-admission. She said very slim. I can't believe they withdrew my application for a Incomplete in Calc2. All I have to do is get a 76% on the final for a "B". Anyways, back to studying for this test with the worst feeling I've had in a while.

wow withdrawn for a C? I thought a C was okay...

omg. best of luck to you mcchowder

Sorry to hear that, I think if you have to appeal you have a good chance of being admitted, being that you show proof of your ilness that caused you to drop the class.

Mcchowder what was your gpa and are you still able to log into your student account?

It's not even a "C". It's an "I". And it is possible to make it a "B" after June 8th, when I take the final (which is gonna be really tough). I think I am one of the very few who got the worst of it. I wish they never admitted me in the first place. Now all my plans are ruined not to mention the overwhelming dissappointment.

McChowder, what was your gpa?

Mcchowder like I said if you appeal you have a good shot of getting in. You said that due to food poisoning you had to drop the class. I believe if you take the final on June 8'th get a B in the class and provide some type of documentation showing your illness was real, UCLA could not possibly fault you. Also include a letter from the professor who gave you the incomplete which states that before you withdrew from the class you were passing it and he is confident that if wasn't for your illness you would have passed the class. Dont give up you have a good shot. Also what was your cumulative transfer gpa and are you still able to sign onto URSA.

Yes, I am able to log into URSA. My cumulative transfer gpa was around 3.2-3.3 for BizEcon. But, my UCLA GPA is a 2.85. I know I was lucky to be admitted in the first place. What really sucks is I just spoke to an admissions officer. Apparently my counselor screwed me. I was not even able to tell her that I still haven't taken the final due to work, my sister's wedding, relatives coming from out of the country visiting. When I called her Tuesday to ask her a few questions, she told me not to call her until Friday (today). I haven't given up hope, but like they said, "My chances are very slim". What makes matters worse is that the deadline for an appeals is June 1st. I will not have a grade by then.

I was wondering if I should contact someone in UARS that could have great influence. If I told him/her my situation and ensure that I will get a "B" in the course, do you think that this could help me???

It wont hurt to try.
