Will UCLA rescind my offer of admission?

Hi,

I was admitted to the philosophy major at UCLA recently with a GPA of 3.83. I've completed all my pre-reqs and I'm TAP-certified. My major is also not very competitive to get into and hence unimpacted. Here are the classes that I'm taking this semester:

Contemporary Moral Conflicts(An elective philosophy class that I don't need other than for the units)

Political Philosophy(Another elective philosophy class)

American Art History(Just need this for IGETC purposes)

Native American History(An elective class that I need for the units)

I may get a couple of C's and B's this semester...I may not get any A's. I definitely won't fail any of these classes, but I'm worried that if I get a couple of C's AND B's instead of A's, my admission will be rescinded.

I'll contact UCLA to see what they have to say, but I'd like to get your opinions on this. Am I screwed if, in the worst--case scenario, I get 2 C's and 2 B's? Thanks in advance.

@Cayton I think you will be fine. It would be best if you could maintain close to a 4.0 but if you can’t just don’t fail any courses. I say definitely call to verify

I don’t think they will care.

I see.

Did you get in at UCLA, @stanx89?

And any other opinions, guys?

not 100% sure if I remember correctly, but I remember reading somewhere that you need at least a 3.0 for your last semester/quarter. (Or it might of been that your overall GPA can’t dilute down to 3.0 though). Just try your best to make sure you at least get straight B’s.

Why do you say that, @bomerr?

@cayton, Yea I got in. I’m not sure if I will go yet though. Congrats. You deserve it. You’re a true help to every one on the board. Are you going to Bruin Day? Do you know how many guests we can bring?

Congrats, @stanx89! I knew you would.

And I’m not too sure. I’m certain you can bring at least 3 or 4, though.

Because A) I haven’t seen a lot of threads about people getting rescinded B) on the UCLA transfer stats a good number of majors have lower GPA entered than accepted.

It doesn’t seem like they are very strict on rescinding applications. My guess is you would need under a 2.0 to get rescinded.

My admissions contract just says to stay in good standing. I think if you pass your classes you should be okay

“Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units you reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance. Also, if you attended another UC campus in regular session prior to enrollment at UCLA, you must have been in good standing when you left that UC campus. Notify our office immediately of any withdrawals, incomplete grades, drop in academic performance, or other changes to your class schedule.”

I mean a C isn’t the greatest grade ever but its a pass…

@cayton thanks. I will probably bring friends to motivate them, since I’m out here alone. Are you going to the black transferganza? I’m iffy on that don’t wanna go up to LA two days in a row.

does anyone know if the straight B’s thing applies to other majors? cause i got in as a Biochemsitry major which i believe is impacted and when i went to look at my admissions contract, they were extremely vague as to what i needed to keep my admissions basically saying i need to maintain my GPA, like does that mean i need to get my current GPA or higher? or what?

@stanx89‌

I’m pretty iffy on that myself. Two events in two days? Not down, lol.

@bomerr‌

Thanks.

@AtticLights‌

That’s encouraging.

@Cayton we should definitely meet up on Bruin Day. I say you start a Facebook group or a Meetup group for all of us admitted since you are the “KING” on here.

Join the UCLA transfer group if you haven’t already

According to my contract, UCLA suggests I should not get more than two C’s and no D or F within the last semester. However they meanwhile emphasized that any C grade with major-related course needs to be reported. So I guess C is fine, just try not to gain it within the major course.

@onehandedred whats the link?

<a href=“UCLA Transfer Students | Facebook”>https://www.facebook.com/groups/uclatransfers/

Apparently CC doesn’t block facebook links

Suddenly they do what the hell

Thanks, guys, and I can’t join the group because I don’t have a Facebook anymore. lol.
