I logged on to check my application status and under decision it said this:

Pending - Manual Review Req

the website said that it means:Pending - Manual Review Req: Application referred to committee for manual review due to special circumstances present (e.g., transfer coursework, no high school rank provided). No additional information is needed.

I was just wondering if this mostly means a bad thing, and the outcome of most students who may have had this status.thanks

It means nothing bad and just means that in your computer file there is field that has not been filled out even though you submitted something that would usually be used to fill it out. Most often happens when your high school does not rank and thus the computer field for your rank is blank and someone will have to review the file to estimate rank since they rely on rank as a factor. Some other things that can cause that message: you have attended two high schools and submitted two transcripts, you are relying on some courses taken at a community college for some of your high school grades in required high school courses, thus causing you to also have a second transcript.

hey i aplied to UIS and 2 weeks ago i checked my status it said decision:admit and a week later i got the acceptance letter in the mail…and then i checked the status today and it says pending: manual review required…what’s hapening?? it says the same for UIC tho i havent got notification for that yet…

All that means, is that your file has been sent to your department and they are looking at it. For some reason, your department requires that admissions send all applications to them to review. They don’t allow admissions to just accept you.

Normally, the manual review they’re refering too is because they have to manually calculate high school percentage rank because the applicant’s high school doesn’t.
