Dude I got really lucky with my portal, I feel like everyone else is having slower updating than me LOL
Okay so as long as I’ve submitted the required bits, I’m happy. Hahahah what would I do without you, dontstopbelievin.

I HOPE IT SNOWS TOMORROW AAAAHHHHHHH. If it snows just a little bit, we’ll at least have a delay. My town is paranoid or something; we had a snow day for like half an inch of snow earlier this year.

@Canary: each class is 45 mins long actually. On top of that we go in two shifts and switch the shift every two weeks. Talk about bio clock disruption

haha no problem canaryk.
btw, i had school today… i didnt really expect a snow day again so i guess it wasnt much of a let down. and my school doesnt have built in snow days so that wouldve been ANOTHER day added on from our original grad date so i guess im okay with that haha

ya I got my portal but it said they haven’t recieved my payment or teacher recs do u think they just have not updated mine. I submitted both online via the common app.

I got my interview call before I got my portal (though both were yesterday) and I submitted it all on the 30/31 (over night). BTW, is the fact that I’m getting a call offering an interview a good sign or does everybody get one?

Dude. When am I going to get my interview. It’s not just Penn that hasn’t contacted me either, and I checked to make sure I gave them the correct contact information… D:

im not sure if i want an interview or not. the interview shouldn’t really affect our applications, right? since they’re assigned randomly, it wouldnt be fair to have interviews affect us positively or negatively.

^ Yeah it doesn’t affect your application if you don’t get an interview. But having a REALLY good interview can boost your application just a tiny bit, especially for borderline people. A mediocre or average interview won’t do anything to your application. And a bad interview, as in one where you curse out the interviewer or show you have mental problems, could affect you negatively. I don’t think the last one happens so much though.

Chill out about the interviews everyone lol. If you’re a good applicant, you still have a likely chance to get in. My school is in Philly, and a short 10 minute car ride/15 minute subway ride away from Penn. We had around 15 people apply ED and only about 7 (including me) got interviews. 12/15 got in Penn, and one of my friends got in Vagelos without the interview and without the optional pg217 essay.

If I inferred correctly from what my interviewer said, they interview people by arbitrarily picking names off a list of students in their area who applied. All they see in the directory is just your name, the school in Penn you applied to, perhaps your high school and your home address (?) - not sure about the home address bit. They don’t get a chance to interview everyone on their list because they only do interviews when they have time on their busy schedules.

OMG if I had gotten into yale EA, I’d do that for all of my other interviews! HAHA
just go up to the guy and say, hello. you may be interested to know that I got knocked up last night! I’m going to go get drunk now, take care!
