Penn called up my GC last week

maryjulia- i had some Bs in freshman year but other than that all A's. This semester, I have a B in BC calc and A in everything else. my school has a tradition of witholding quarter semester marks from ED colleges, so Penn can't find out about my grades. do you think i should send in my report card myself? or plead my GC to send it.

DPennFL- if you read my entire post, you'll notice my reference to the book "A is for Admissions" by michele hernandez. she is a former adcom at dartmouth and she claims that colleges do look at senior grades closely, with the exception of AP math.

everyones saying that they got calls... i dont know if my gc got a call. i was just talking to her yesterday and she didnt mention anything. so i dont know. but also.. is it bad to not get a call?

I think you should send in (fax) your report card to show how well you are doing. However, I'm not sure whether or not your B will make a difference in admissions. I do have a feeling that there are some other people who applied ED wharton also so i think they may be trying to compare you with them in order to make their decisions. I would ask around tomorrow perhaps? and see if the others are doing as well.

To everyone:
We all have worked hard on our applications. The best thing we can do right now is wait for Dec 14, eat ice cream, and more ice cream while we're at it. :-) There's nothing we can do about our applications now so just calm down and wait:-)

Question though, do the guidance counselor fill out the counselor form in your schools? At my school we have a special College counselor who fill out these things and did they call the the same people who filled out your recs? Thanks.

the guidance counslors at our school don't fill out the individual forms for each school. They have their own form that describes our school on one side and then has our transcript on the back and they write a letter about each student

I guess I'm not the only one not taking AP Physics and Calc BC too well :(. I use to get A/A+ in honors math and physics and now they're B-/B/B+...

1Q i had an 82 in Honors Calc which I'm so annoyed about. i wish I'd studied or something but I guess I can't change that now.

I asked my GC who else was applying to Penn ED and she said me and one other person. well, I asked the other person and they said they weren't....so it's probably a bad sign that my GC didn't know this.

i'm pretty sure my GC always fills out counselor forms but I know she did for Penn since it's ED. she also writes a letter and sends the school report and list of classes at my school (so they can see that we have very few APs). i'm hoping that Penn notices that even though I don't have many APs, I've taken as many as I could (except for AP physics...cause I hate physics)

and question: does anyone know what Penn thinks about online classes? I have one this year (AP chem) and four last year (AP bio, sci-fi writing, mythology, & folklore in lit.). my GC told me that she thinks Penn likes them because someone who applied a few years ago had dropped an online course and Penn called about it. I don't know what makes her think that means she likes it but I don't know how the conversation went. what do you guys think?

i also got a call and ive never done this bad on the report card. now im definetly not in

the first half of senior year is soo incredibly stressful - people spaz out if they found out you're applying to "their" school rolls eyes. when i got my progress report last week, i wasn't the only one moping about it. hmf. but after the midyear report we're gonna be free!!!

purrli.. you live in MA? wat town? (pm me if you dont wanna post it..)

and about physics.. yea.. so first quarter i got a B+ (after sq. rt curve on all the tests.. and after another sq. rt curve on the quarter grade.. lol)

this quarter i have a C-.. ouch.. and test tomorrow that i don't get at all.. it's on collisions but i swear.. the problems are outrageously difficult and the even the problems in our textbook (fund. of physics / halliday resnick and walker) are impossible!

You would love my physics class (all conceptual) we watch CSI about everyday and she gives us the answers to the tests... I sleep on the lab tables mostly, terrible public schools in FL

damn youre lucky.. we just go over problem sets.. thats all we do.. and my teachers a scot.. makes it all the better

hey dw51688: i'm from westford. you? and i have a test on friday about relativistic physics, fun stuff like time dilations and length contractions. >.< argggggh!!

wow westford is far away.. sort of... im in reading.. home to suburban hell.. and a jordan's furniture / imax theatre

^ omg my friend who's at Penn right now went to Reading! (class of 03) :)

class of '07?

yeah. 03 is the high school graduation. (still thinking in childish high school terms lol)

whats his / her name?

i should technically know who went where.. but i dont.. ill prolly recognize the name though

I have a question. Where did everyone find out that on December 14th @ 7pm , UPenn was going to give out decisions online? I've been all over the Penn website and it only says that on Dec. 15th they're mailing out decisions.
