Penn Decisions May 6

He/she applied to the College.

Anyone else heard from Penn?

I don't think that Penn is going to notify everyone at the same time.. they call it "random" rolling..

anyway, just got back from Penn today.. in case you guys were interested.. 325 students applied to Wharton this year.

now, is this rolling nonsense in a computer system (could we get a decision randomly over the weekend) or do you think they physically open up decisions when they're in the office?

alangreenspan, are you applying to Wharton as well?

yesssssssssssssss

Oh ok, did they tell you when all the decisions would be out by?

they said the second week of may.. but it's on a "random rolling basis".. so even if you applied say.. in January.. you might hear in 2 weeks..

this is a FACT by the way.. not spec.

alangreenspan: holy. freaking. crap.

my HS grades/SATs hold me back.

Mrinal, i think you will get in.. comming from stern..

i'm at a disadvantage because no one likes my school.. hahaha

I don't believe that for a minute alan. How could anyone care about those given that resume?

hahaha listen..
so this other 4.0 guy from NYU got into UMich

I have better credentials than he.. and yet I got deferred then rejected..

A lot is attributed to UMich's overenrolment problem for the class of 2008... but STILL.. that's an indication to me that I'm at an disadvantage applying from my school.

anyone else applying to wharton?

alangreenspan, you have a CRAZY chance of getting in regardless of what school you come from.. Hmm, it seems like a lot of schools are suffering from over enrollment, including NYU... Btw, how did you know I was at Stern?

Yes, but allengreenspan, I must point one thing out. If you are a freshman at Rutgers, you can't be enrolled in the Business School there. The Rutgers Business school is something to which you apply after your sophomore year. So all of ur "business courses" are still in the humanities. You may be at a disadvantage to those students who are already enrolled in Business Schools and have taken courses in Financial Accounting, Management Info Systems, Business Law, Management, Finance, etc.

There are probably are other Freshman applying to transfer to Wharton or other universities who have already taken such courses and will seamlessly transfer into schools such as those. Chances are, you have taken only humanities courses (which Economics is) and none of the business core courses which any undergraduate business school requires.

UMich is the same way as RU--you apply to enter the business school after your sophomore yr.

Good luck.

i don't think wharton students take fin accting/corp fin until sophomore year... this was what i heard from the horse's mouth.. i.e. when i was at penn speaking to wharton students (friend's of a friend)

irrelevant!! it's too late now ahhaha.

Wharton students do, however, take management and finance during the freshman year, along with business law. That's what Penn Admis. said.
