May 6, 2005
Dear XXX,

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend the College at Penn at the University of Pennsylvania as a member of the transfer class entering in September 2005. The members of this year's transfer class were chosen by a very personal selection process during which admissions officers and faculty reviewed nearly 1,600 applications in search of individuals whose abilities and talents would enrich the undergraduate experience at the University.

As we invite you to become a part of the Penn tradition, we encourage you to explore the ways in which you could make your own unique contribution to this distinguished heritage of academic excellence, social leadership, and cultural advancement. A distinguished faculty, nationally recognized academic departments, and opportunities for combined graduate and undergraduate study, in addition to an extensive program of social and cultural activities, combine to make this campus a lively and challenging environment in which to pursue your chosen course of study.

The enclosed information will answer many of your questions and we urge you to read it carefully. A preliminary evaluation of your transfer credit will be available within three weeks. You will be able to access this information online through our decision website at www.admissions.upenn.edu/decisions. If you applied for financial aid, and submitted all of your required documents by the due dates, an evaluation will be mailed to you starting mid-May and will also be available on the decision website by following the PPOL link after logging in. Although you need not reply until you receive this information, I recommend you send the reply card and deposit as soon as possible since this will enhance your housing opportunities on campus.

Also keep in mind, if you are currently enrolled in a college or university, that this approval has been granted with the understanding that your spring term record will show evidence of the same high quality of work that your previous record has shown. Be certain to have your Registrar's Office forward us an official copy of your final grades as soon as they become available.

On behalf of the Penn community and the Admissions staff, I would like to congratulate you warmly on your excellent scholastic and personal achievements. If there are questions with which we might be helpful, or if you have not yet visited the campus and would like to do so, please do not hesitate to let us assist you. We are looking forward to seeing you in September.

Sincerely,

Willis J. Stetson, Jr.
Dean of Admissions

question:

those who have recieved your decision from the decision page, did penn email you first?

yup, i got an e-mail

Congrat! What time did Penn send you the email?

I applied to Wharton and have not received a decision, but a friend of mine was rejected by Wharton today. So Wharton has started giving out decisions.

Good luck!

Will Penn give out more decisions before next Friday?

on ne sait jamais.

Guys, don't worry about the lack of decisions. They only do a certain number of applicants per day. A lot of people were notified THREE weeks before I was. I still got in. Late notification means nothing...you can still get in.

Congratz to the future transfers!

Penn '07

Oh, I also didn't receive an email last year before my notification.

And to anyone that received one of those green cards that asked for missing documents, GET THEM IN ASAP. Even if you're positive you sent the item, do it anyway!

And for posterity's sake, my stats from last year:

-1400 SATs
-top 5% HS class
-5 APs by grad
-Decent ECs (founded a club, did some other stuff, no sports but state-level in a nonsport/nonmusical event)
-3.88 College GPA at a top 50 LAC
-Great college recs, IMO

FYI: The work at Penn, depending on dept, can be very demanding. But I have a 3.93 GPA here after my soph year, so high grades can be had.

enviroman, which school at Penn are you in?

I'm in the college. I'm a geology major.

Does Penn admit for Spring semester, or is it just entirely Fall semester only?

Ahh, so much anticipation!!

Fall only.

fook where is my decision!~

decision time, are you wharton candidate?

AHHH! I'm getting extremely anxious! I hope I found out this Friday (I am assuming the only update their site on Fridays?).

yes, they only update on fridays.

Good luck! :D
