I got into both for nursing. I'm from California so I was hoping to find a more a school that's urban but I think both schools are pretty isolated or are in the middle of nowhere. Any suggestion where I should go? Should I go to Bradford and hope to be able to transfer to main later? For Penn state, you have to stay in the same campus for 4 years for nursing so I can't transfer anywhere.

I know nothing about Pitt-Bradford. I have driven through bradford on my way to upstate NY. It is smaller than altoona and the weather is worse. It is the home to zippo lighters and oil refineries. Not much else. Coming from CA, I recommend you make a visit before enrolling.

Unless that’s a specific nursing requirement, you don’t have to stay at the same campus for all four years for Penn State. In fact, most do transfer to UP after 2 years. However, I do know that nursing students spend either one semester or one year at Hershey (can’t remember which.)

I’ve had family go to Altoona and Bradford as well as both main campuses. My Son is going to UP next year and a nephew is at Bradford this year. Bradford is very cold and isolated (small town), but a very nice campus (I moved my nephew in). He likes it, but is from Bradford so it saves money (he still can’t wait to get to main campus). Altoona is a much less isolated area and only 50 minutes or so from UP and though I have not been to the campus, have heard good things about it. Both Pitt and PSU are good schools, so it may depend on how important it is for you to get to the main campus, along with which nursing program you like the best, and if you really want urban, Pittsburgh is in the city, while PSU is the only thing that makes State College a decent sized town.
