Does anyone know if your kid is accepted to 2+2 is there any way, aside from summer start, where they can get to UP sooner? Is it based upon the number of credits? If they come in with college credits can that be expedited or if their major is not in say Harrisburg would it be sooner?
There are some majors that require you to go to UP campus after 1 year. There arenāt many though. One of those majors is Athletic Training. The only other way would be if your child comes in with a lot of credits and the classes theyād need for their major arenāt available at the campus they are at.
That said, in most circumstances, a 2+2 is just that and there is no way to get to UP earlier.
Your other option is to request a reevaluation of their application with a change in major to a less competitive major.
What major did your child apply to and what were his stats? Knowing that may help us to guide you better.
i got accepted into PSU eerie but i wanted to know in comparison is MSU better or PSU eerie . I was rooting for university park so never thought of this approach. My major is applied math.
Overall, I think MSU (Michigan State) and Pitt (mentioned in another of your threads) are better choices for an international student. And you even got a scholarship to MSU.
Penn State Behrend, near Erie, does provide a traditional college experience. Itās a nice campus, but very different than a large one like Michigan State (or UP, for that matter). I know many kids who choose to stay there for all four years and never transfer to UP.
I donāt know about the quality of its mathematics program, but it has some specific engineering and business majors that are only offered at Behrend.
In general, I wouldnāt think a branch would be a good idea for an international student, but in this situation it could be a viable alternative. The campus isnāt overwhelming, I am guessing the class sizes are smaller, and it could be a nice transition, but you would still get a traditional college experience with dorms, activities, and the usual on campus amenities. For instance, while they donāt have a football team, they do provide transportation to the games. They have basketball and other teams, too, at that branch.
Getting into Schreyer Honors College is quite an accomplishment. It is one of the best honors colleges in the nation and provides many special advantages and services to its members. Since it is also instate for you and therefore much less expensive, it would seem foolish to choose Maryland without honors. Your son will make new friends in college and can still keep in touch with his high school friends.
My daughter is 2+2 criminology and was told she would probably only spend one year at Altoona due to needing to go to UP for criminology and coming in with 60 credits from concurrent enrollment
I replied to another post but my daughter is 2+2 Altoona with Criminology she will come in with her AA degree (60 credits) and was told that she would probably only be one year at Altoona.
Here for the admitted student weekend. The hotel was horrible last night! Full of middle schoolers running unsupervised. We got in after a long day of work and a long drive to get here. Just wanted dinner and to relax. Kids were running in the halls and yelling until well after quiet hours. The parents were in the lobby drinking and carrying on or in their rooms drinking. The staff was trying to control things but they were clearly out numbered. Itās a hotel not a Chuck E. Cheese. Donāt these kids have to play basketball today? I hope this isnāt a bad sign letting us know our son should choose a different school.
