The only time I’ve ever seen students strolling around at 9am with beer coolers is on a noon game day, or on state patties weekend. Neither great times to visit. Otherwise, students aren’t up at 9am on weekends and during the week only if they have a class!

Question about Schreyer student housing. Are your students choosing Honors housing (South Traditional) or elsewhere? I hear a lot of honors students are choosing East instead.
Anyone concerned with the number of 1st years that are going to UP? I read it’s over 10k and a record year. How are they going to house and feed all those students?
they went through this a few years ago (2016?) and are doing the same as then:
- offering 1+3 program to incoming freshman. If you are taking on significant student debt, this is a great opportunity.
- there will still be summer melt.
- they will have to add extra sections of classes (gen eds, freshman English, etc.)
- more students in supplemental than past years. this can be a double-edged sword - some end up loving it.
Not saying it is a good thing or happy about it, but they will find a way.
My nephew was a freshman in 2016. The big issue he had was with housing - his room was actually a converted lounge area, which I believe was shared by 5 guys. In no way ideal, but he lived through it.
Can you share where you read this information?
I know this was for Fall 2022, but was curious how competitive it is to get into the College of Agricultural Sciences vs. the other Colleges (DUS, Education, Liberal Arts) from your experience? My son is applying for Fall 2023 and waiting to hear.
My D had a nice application (ECs related to career interest, lots of volunteering, letters of rec) etc, but not the crazy stats like many of the other students you see on this forum. She had a 3.99 weighted GPA, around a 3.75 unweighted at the time of the application. Both parents went to PSU. I have no idea how to compare with other colleges at PSU, but we were grateful she got in, and it seemed like many on this thread were acceptances for College of Ag (who knows who all posts thought)!
