I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about Penn State's honors program. I've heard from many sources that it's positively amazing. I had never really thought of applying before, so I have a few questions.

I don't think I would apply to Penn State in general mainly because of its size. I really don't want to be in a school environment where I'm just a number, and professors teach to the board instead of to the students. Yet, I read that PSU's honors program has small classes. I'm pretty inexperienced with this whole college thing, but I've never heard of that before. Therefore, I'm a little confused on what the honors program is exactly.

You apply to Penn State, and then they have special classes for you if you're in the honors program, or you are in the normal classes as well as some others, or is it just like a scholarship, that they let you have first crack at classes because you're in the honors program?? (wow, that was a run-on sentence.)

I'm generally confused, so any general information about the program itself would also be helpful, and what makes an honors program good; why is this one regarded so highly.

I have visited the website for the honors college, but since I don't really know much about the system, I don't really know what I'm looking for, so responses would be greatly appreciated, just to clear things up for me.

Thanks a lot!
