Pennsylvania Colleges

I’m from Alaska and have my heart completely set on attending an out-of-state college as the choices here are very limited. Pennsylvania is a state I’m very interested in attending university in. Are there any colleges that:

  1. Are in the East region of Pennsylvania, preferably near Philadelphia
  2. Present affordable out-of-state tuition costs
  3. Have a business degree program

Thank you!

What do you look for in a college? are your grades good?

There are a bunch of good schools in Penn that matches your criteria.

PSU has a good business degree(esp finance)
Lehigh’s business is often interdisciplinary and awesome.
Not to mention the famous Wharton…

There are 52 Four Year colleges within 40 miles of Philadelphia. You’ll need to be a bit more specific in what you want.

Affordable in PA is dependent upon merit aid and need based aid qualifications when one is not full pay. We do not have inexpensive public schools compared to most of the rest of the US so in state folks don’t get much of a break.

Have you run any NPCs for any schools at all to see if you’re getting affordable numbers? Or do you have an idea if your EFC is affordable?

Otherwise, PA has plenty of terrific schools. Which area would you like to be near? Pitt is a long distance from Philly and there’s quite a few in between too.

@iwantcollegeplz I currently keep a 4.0 unweighted, and honestly, I’m open to anything.

St. Joseph’s. Not sure of cost but they offer merit.

@hydrogenbonds , what is your budget for “affordable”? Do you believe you can apply for and win financial aid? Have you tried to run any net price calculators with your parents? Each school offers a NPC and you can run them to figure out how expensive the school will be for your family. Are you related to any Alaskan Native tribe, and could you get a scholarship based on that? Look for scholarships and also think about what sort of school you want, so large public school or smaller all around liberal arts college with a business program or a STEM option school with good business. Since you have prefect grades and from a state where almost no one goes to PA to school, there may be money for you. Try the NPC first to see if you qualify for financial aid. Try Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh as well, very top business program. It may depend on your ECs , test scores was well as grades though to get into some very competitive business programs in the state of PA.

Define “affordable”.

You may find some less expensive options in the Western University Exchange, where students in the region can get 1.5 times in state tuition at some public schools in other states in the region.
