people here seem to score really high on the ACT help!?what am i doing wrong

i get 23's and 22's on the English section of the ACT. it seems really easy and i always have extra time remaining. i don't know what i am doing wrong..actually i think i do...i over think the answers and i skim the passage while answering the questions instead of reading the entire passage. i am pretty good with punctuation, agreement issues, but i am horrible at sentence structure and pronoun and verb forms... i am getting 2 different strategies from people so i am wondering which one works best ?

1.read the entire passage 1st without answering, then answer all questions, making sure you answer all question before moving on to the next passage

2.do the passages in order but skip the long questions (rhetorical questions) like "what order...","which would best conclude...","if the author were to delete this sentence..." etc.

any other strategies that have worked well for you ?

Well, I haven’t gotten a perfect score on the English section, but I have gotten two 35s and one 34 on that section so I’ll try and help.

I don’t really follow either strategy really. I answer all of the questions as I read the passage. It seems easier to notice a grammatical error in a sentence if you are reading it like you would a book. The mistakes don’t let the sentence “flow”. I try to mentally think of the correct form of the underlined portion BEFORE I view the answer choices. That way, I won’t be influenced toward an answer too soon. If the answer I envisioned is an option, it is normally the right answer.

look at the ACT for Dummies book. It has a section on tips and tricks for acing the English section.

I used it and got a 34 on the section.

I also envision the correct form of the sentence before looking at the answers, then choose the correct option.
