Percentage of which class to be reported on CommonApp and other university application websites?

Hello:

Since I studied until 10th in a different school and from 11th in a different school, I have two transcripts now. The first transcript shows my 9th and 10th marks and %s for each year and the 11th mark sheet from the second school shows up the 11th total marks and %. My first school has included the rank as 1/21 (upto 10th grade) and the second school has reported rank as ‘Top 10%’. When they ask for the current GPA in ASU application and CommonApp, which % do I enter? (11th or 10th as it is the board exam or an average of 9th/10th/11th)? Also, what rank would I report? My 10th marks and rank are good. What have you guys done in the past in a similar situation? Thanks.

I would report the most recent rank. Your current rank is Top 10%.

Does you most recent transcript show the “carry over” credits from your first school? I would think they are looking for a combined GPA.

There is no concept of ‘carry over’ credits in the Indian school system. The transcript shows the grades obtained in grade 9 and grade 10 separately on a transcript and the other transcript shows the grade obtained in 11th grade
