Perfect GPA,Very high SAT 2 scores, 14 AP classes, 2020 SAT scores - BS/MD chances?

<p>I have the highest GPA (ranked No.1 out of 700+), very high SAT 2 scores (800/780 -Math and Chemistry) and a sub par SAT scores (650/770/590 total 2020). I have a combined score of 1420 in verbal and Math. I took SAT for the first time and I am shooting for 2200+ this March hopefully. </p>

<p>I have lots of ECs under my belt including cancer, biotech research, hospital volunteer work, doctor shadowing, clubs etc. I have done 14 AP classes mostly 4s and 5s. What are my chances for BS/MD program with my current SAT scores in CR and Math in case if my score does not improve? I have studied hard and did everything right and I am not sure how much I could improve in CR and Math. I am positive that I can score high in the essay and improve my writing by 80 pts and may be another 40 pts in CR and math.</p>

<p>I live in Florida, and I am going to apply for HPME at UM and Honor program at USF regardless. What other BS/MD programs that I can consider which does not require stellar SAT scores? Thanks much</p>

<p>If you are National Finalist - one at Ohio state, and then there are those HPME, PPSP, PLME… that are very competitive</p>

<p>If you don’t mind heading north (with the cold winters and all), you could apply to the Drexel programs (there’s a bunch) and the Albany Medical programs (you do 3-4 years undergrad at either Union, Rensselaer, or Siena, then go to medical school).</p>

<p>I know for the Penn State BA/MD program, you only need SAT score above 2100 (realistically 2200 would give you the best chance.) Good luck with the SAT</p>

<p>penn state’s program is really all about the SAT. the average SAT score out of 1600 for any prog there is 1545. they bank on the idea that kids who do well in the SAT do well in college, and almost all the prog kids are truly exceptional</p>

<p>it seems rather unusual that you are the best at your school and have gotten 4 or 5 in your math/english ap exams and yet you can only score a 2020 either your school is very low ranking (which is hard because of all the ap’s) or the 2020 was a fluke because you should be able to score easily into 2200s to 2300s.</p>

<p>A retake of the SAT should bring your writing up. I went from a 590 to a 770 on my 2nd attempt.</p>

<p>But I agree with SamirBabai regarding the oddity of your grades vs. score.</p>

<p>wow, OP, you are like my twin! i am in the same boat, #1, bunch of APs, great ECs, subpar SAT. i also live in FL and are applying to those same programs. although you don’t even need to apply to USF’s, it’s just a track people in the honors prog can follow.</p>

<p>Your high GPA and low SAT scores may be an indication of grade inflation at your school.</p>
