What are some prestigious or worthwhile performing arts, particularly drama and theater, summer programs? Also, does anyone know of the UT Austin program? Is it competitive? Is it worthwhile? Any, and I mean any, advice would be very, very wonderful!

The one i'm currently applying to is called the Tisch School of Arts for highschool students. It's in NYU, and the tuition is $6k+. It's pretty pricy, but I applied for scholarship. It's pretty prestigious, since Tisch is one of THE BEST acting schools in America. We work at Lee Strasberg, and that school is pretty hard to get into.

They also have the Carnegie Mellon one, if you would like to try out for that one. Im not sure about how prestigious it is, but it is free!

UT Austin is VERY hard to get into. It's a good program, but a real toughy.

Yes, I've heard of Tisch's, but it's only now that I've started to get into the performing arts, so I don't have any experience. The experience that I will have will happen after the application is due, so I don't think I would get accepted. By the time the applications are due for UT and Carnegie Mellon, I will already have had experience. Any more programs?

BTW, the Carnegie Mellon one is free?! I though it said non-commuters had to pay a couple thousand. Or is it free for those who can't afford the program?
