<p>They can, but you can also focus on something non-academic that helped you in your life, character wise or goal wise. It can also be something non-academic that helped you academically. The way I took the PS, was it’s your chance to show the readers your character and how you would be a great asset to the school. Even on a non-academic level. </p>

<p>They don’t HAVE to but if you are trying to enter a competitive program then it is highly recommended that you do.</p>
