Personal Statement on Common App!

Hi everyone
On common app, after I upload the personal statement, is it sent to every colleges that I am applying, or do I get a chance to upload others and to choose which one will be sent to which college?

I know it says on the website that
“Your Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Do not customize it in any way for individual colleges. Colleges that want customized essay responses will ask for them on a supplement form.”

But, for my ED which is CU, I wonna write about an alumuni in CU who I know. Will I be able to send this essay first, and delete the document then replace it with another one for RD for other colleges. I know this sounds a bit sneaky, but this person does hv a significant influence on me and I really want to write in this topic.

Thanks

yes, this is possible. Check out the “Application Versions” section of the Instruction page in the online application. You seem to be aware that this is not recommended, nor is it common, so I won’t repeat that advice.

You can send the application to individual schools at individual times

Thanks a lot for that.
But I was still wondering do lots of candidates do this?

Most people don’t do that since most schools have some sort of school-specific or otherwise specific topic on their supplements

even the schools that don’t have supplements do not expect an essay that is school specific. As I said above, it is not common to do different versions of your main essay. There is a way to do it, but you are definitely the exception to the rule if you do this.
