Personal statement, yikes.

Okay, I'm applying to a state school that has three personal statement topics. My first question is that it says "atleast one paragraph and that applicants won't be judged negitively for being too long but applicants have been judged for being too short". What does that mean? Is the minimum-one paragraph "too short" and how much should I write?

Down to the actual topics are
1) An accomplishment I'm most proud of..
2) A circustance or obstacle I want the Admissions office to know.. I overcame this by..
3) Earning a college degree is important because..

Now, I'm having most difficulty with the second. I've lived a pretty normal life, no shark attacks or major illnesses, what could I write that wouldn't sound cheesy? What are they looking for?

Maybe a personality trait like maybe shyness or being intimidated by something/someone? Confidence? Or maybe there is a course that you struggled with but did well in the end?

The shyness trait I might be able to work with, thanks.

Any other suggestions are always helpful.
